Remove upper door hinge and lift door up and out of bottom hinge. Pry out both lower door cams if possible from the lower door. If not possible, break the lower door cam, and then grind out the plastic part of the old door cam from the refrigerator door. Install new upper and lower door cams and put some lite grease on them. Lower door onto bottom hinge and reinstall upper door hinge.
Replaced bottom hinge and cam . Had to remove door but it was easy. However, had to have the star shaped screw driver head to remove door hinges. I was just lucky that my drill set had one.
This is a very simple repair, by far the hardest part was emptying all of the condiments out of the door. After that was done I removed the top hinge cover and then the hinge. I lifted the door off of the refrigerator and set it on a card table so that it was off the ground. I took the worn cams off of the door and the refrigerator cabinet (one screw for each of them). I screwed the new cams into position and lubricated them with petroleum jelly. Then I put the door back in position and reattached the top hinge. It works perfectly again.
Watched the video. Had my parts and tools ready. Removed contents on door. Removed top bracket with 5/16 socket and removed door. Removed cam on refrigerator used screwdriver to pry up from base after removing screw. Had to take bracket off bottom of refrigerator because door cam worn into two pieces. Used crisco to lubricant cams pleased door on hinge used a mirror to help lineup. Replaced bracket works great.
Watched your DIY Video with no problems
Replaced lower cam first. Didn't fix problem. Replaced upper cam, fixed. Very easy, watch video. But, website should have warned to check both parts. Plastic to plastic cams is a bad design.
replaced the lower door cam and closing cam. very easy remove all items from door take out top hinge pin. lift door off lower cam. set door on two chairs with cushions. removed set screw holding the cam and replaced with new. removed the one on refrigerator at bottom and replaced with new. gently placed door back on made sure that it was in line( you may need some one to help with putting door back, I did myself.). with the door shut replace the upper hinge pin plate and your good to go.
Removed the top hinge and lifted the door off the bottom hinge. Used the socket wrench to remove screw and replaced both cams. Placed the door back and it closes perfectly now. It took longer to take the food out of the door and clean.
FIRST REMOVE EVERYTHING FROM THE DOOR SHELVES. THERE IS A TOTAL OF 5 SHEET METAL SCREWS REMOVED AND REINSTALLED DURING THE REPAIR PROCESS. NEXT REMOVE THE DOOR HINGE COVER SCREW LOCATED ON THE TOP RIGHT CORNER BEHIND THE DOOR. NEXT REMOVE THE THREE SCREWS THAT HOLD TOP DOOR HINGE. (NOTE:) DOOR IS A LITTLE HEAVY, LIFTOFF AND LAY ON LEFT SIDE. ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER REMOVE THE SHEET METAL SCREW FROM" DOOR CLOSING CAM" (BLACK PIECE WITH HOLE IN THE CENTER). CAREFULLY PRY CAM OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR. CAM IS SNUG JUST BE PATIENT IT WILL COME OUT.NOTE: I JUST REPLACED THE TOP CAM BECAUSE IT CARRIES THE WEIGHT OF THE DOOR. REPLACE CAM AND DO STEPS IN REVERSE ORDER.
