OK thank you much I will try that, I tried and off brand thermostat just to see if work and it did not, u think it did not work because it was not the original whirlpool thermostat?

thermostat was at coldest setting but was still warm
very easy to remove old thermostat and reverse and install new one. the service is great, next day i received the new thermostat.
