Product Description

The defrost timer works on a predetermined schedule, to alternate between the cooling cycle and the defrost heater in your freezer. When the heating circuit is activated, it melts any ice that has formed on the evaporator coils, then the cooling system is started again. If ice builds up the evaporator, it reduces the airflow and the efficiency of your freezer. If the defrost timer has failed, it can cause the temperature in your fridge or freezer to get too warm, or it can cause ice buildup since the heating circuit will not be activated. You can test this part with a multimeter to see if it has continuity. If you need to replace this part, this is a genuine OEM replacement defrost timer. It measures approximately 3 inches long and 2.5 inches wide and is 60Hz and 120V.

If I manually move the timer into defrost mode, it will eventually exit defrost cycle. It doesn't seem to ever voluntarily enter defrost cycle. I made a mark on the timer "dial" and it hasn't moved. I assume the timer is faulty?

My main problem is that the freezer coil won't defrost. If the timer doesn't fix the problem, what else could it be?
