Works With Model HSS25GFPAWW!

Product Description

If the ice maker in your fridge is noisy or no longer dispensing ice, there may be an issue with the auger in the ice bucket. The auger works by spinning to pull and dispense ice from the bin down the ice chute and into your glass. Regular use of the auger over time can cause it to wear down, and if ice is allowed to build up it can also cause the auger to break. When replacing this part, you will need to remove the entire icemaker assembly from your freezer. Be sure to turn the ice maker off before beginning this repair. As the ice maker assembly is made of plastic, we suggest allowing it to warm up before starting any work, to prevent cracking and further damage. This is a genuine OEM part and is made of clear plastic and metal.

auger broken
All the same as the video, except on mine the tabs didn't push in, they are solid. Had to pry open the sides of sides of panel and jimmy the ice crusher housing out, a little at a time, one side and the other, till it came out.

Ice auger replacement
The ice choppers were very much attached to the auger as I was advised in a similar post. Used vice grips as suggested and removed the choppers and was very careful to keep them all together. After that, it wasn't too bad to put it all back together. Might consider just replacing the entire drawer in the future.

Broken Ice maker Auger
Printed written instructions. Had difficulty as they omitted using a putty knife to push in the cover retaining tabs (the most difficult part of the job). I then found the video and it was very easy to follow the tabs were still very hard to keep pushed in , they kept popping back. Persistence paid off. Video was the way to go.

Auger had broke, needed to replace
The order confirmation email contained a link to a video showing step by step how to perform the replacement. I down loaded it to a tablet computer and stopped and restarted and reviewed as needed to properly replace the part. Without that video, I am uncertain of success, but if successful, would have been a much more stressful job.

I watched the video your order site supplied. The most difficult part of the installation was removing the housing for the auger. The video explains this very good. Took about 30 minutes to complete.
