Product Description
The temperature sensor, also referred to as a thermistor, is used to monitor the refrigerator and freezer internal temperatures. The sensor is a small capsule like device that is protected by a white plastic casing. The sensor sends the temperature reading to the control board, which uses this information to turn on the compressor and fan circuits. If this part is malfunctioning it may inaccurately signal the control board to turn off these components, resulting in warmer than normal temperatures in the fresh food and freezer sections. This part can break from material fatigue through normal use, and will need to be replaced when this happens. You will find this part attached to the evaporator and control housing in your appliance. This OEM part measures roughly 1.25 inches with 18-inch long wire leads. For this repair, you will need a 1/4 inch nut driver, a pair of strippers and crimpers, and a pair of wire splice connectors.

I'm Confused about my Temperature sensor. I clearly see in the new part two wires. The part in the fridge looks like one thick wire. Am I letting a protective coating cause my doubts?

Freezer cold at 0, refrigerator at 53. Service guy replaced temp sensor still not working. I replaced defrost heater because they said it was next. Still no success. Should I try replacing temp sensors in both freezer and refrigerator?

Hello Dana, Thank you for the question. We suggest checking the Air Duct to make sure it is opening and closing normally and allowing cold air through from the freezer to the fresh food section. We hope this solves your problem!

My ice maker is not producing ice, water works ok, and ice maker was replaced along with the blue plastic thing where water goes through. Could this be the temperature sensor?

Hello Brandon, Thank you for writing. We suggest testing the Secondary Dual Water Inlet Valve. The Valve is a dual valve and the solenoid that sends water to the ice maker could be faulty. Set your multitester to the R X 1 ohms setting to test for continuity. Place each of the multitester's leads on a terminal. Your multitester should display a reading between 200 and 500 ohms. Closely examine your water inlet valve. The exact ohm resistance rating you should test for may be marked on the valve. We hope this information helps!

The blue plastic thing that I referenced in my last question is the thing you told me to test and that is the part that also was replaced and brand new along with my ice maker, so now probably the temperature sensor is bad, thank you

Hello Brandon, thank you for writing. You can also test the Temperature Sensor with a Multimeter. With the sensor warmed up to room temperature the sensor should read approximately 6.2K Ohms at 68°F. We hope this information helps!

Will this fix running all the time even when control set on 0?

Hello Randall, Thank you for your inquiry. The temperature sensor/thermistor is one of the causes of the refrigerator running all the time to keep cool. The compatible one for the model number that you have provided is FIX977306. We would also recommend checking the defrost heater, the defrost thermostat, the run capacitor, and the door gasket. Check the gasket with a plastic card to check for any gaps between the gasket and the cabinet, and you can check the other parts with a multimeter. Good luck with your repair.

How would I know which temperature sensor is failing on my refrigerator? My freezer seems to be working fine but my refrigerator is way too cold and it's freezing items like spinach.

Fresh food section not cooling
Online info suggested thermal sensor was the issue (coils cleaned, fans functional). I ordered the part and received it in 2 days. Finding the sensor was the issue. I removed the shelves, then removed a temp control knob, the lights and the protective panel covering them. I removed a long white panel (no screws), removed two panels (one with 2 screws, one with three screws. The thermal sensor was behind the last panel removed. The cooling coils with the thermal sensor were covered with a styrofoam like device. Used a hair dryer to melt the ice. The new sensor was then put in place as per other videos on this topic. It took longer to melt the ice then to remove the panels giving access to the sensor. All in all a pretty easy repair. BTW, refrigerator is working fine (0-2F in freezer, 37F in fresh foods side).

the fridge would not stay cool
Replace the termostat and temp sensor for those two you have to cut and splice new wires. And the water filter easy twist off and twist back on for the heater and braket assembly it was pull out old and place new maybe hour long job

Freezer keeps freezing over
Removed 6-8 small screws (hex, slotted and phillip's) to access coils in freezer. Found Temp Sensor and Thermostat attached at top of coil. Clipped Temperature Sensor and Thermostat wires close to existing sensors. Used screw caps to splice new components. Dabbed a small amount of petroleum jelly into caps to protect from moisture. Freezer and Frig working better than they have in years. No more freezing up and food stays fresh longer.

Freezer clod-fridge warm, coils were frosting up cutting off air flow
I removed the old temperature sensor by cutting the wires. I attached the wires of the new sensor with wire nuts and mounted it in the same bracket.first I removed shelves, bottom drawer, one drawer slide. then removed plastic cover from inside, light bulb, removed two screws from back panel (inside refrigerator, removed panel. You will see heater towards bottom. Remove screws (2) that hold heater in place, disconnect wires from heater, thermostat is
attached to line just above where heater is attached.
You will find that is quicker to cut thermostat wire, then splice together with wire nut. reassemble in reverse order. To check ice door, you must remove inner door panel, mine had to selenoid rusted and locked up. Removed , cleaned, reinstalledm worked ok. Hope this helps someone. Thank you from your good service!

The refridgerators an freezer stop being cold
Went to this site read through there trouble shooting info. Bought my parts they arrived very fast. The were very easy to install if you have any mechanical knowledge. Replaced both parts in less than 30 minutes. Nothing changed. So had to buy the replacement mother board. Installed it in 20 minutes. Everything is awesome running right now.

The back wall of the freezer side was frosting
After the refrigerator had been disconnected a few hours, I removed the lower back side panel from the freezer side. Both the temp sensor and defrost thermostat were easy to find . I then cut the wires to remove the parts and just rewired the new parts the same way and I was done . My refrigerator has been working fine since.

Ice Box would thaw then freeze
Just like the man said pull the rear panel removed defrost thermostat replaced with new one did the same thing to the temp sensor. very easy one thing I really liked was the probability factor you have on the sale items which made me buy both probable causes for this problem. statistically can't be the odds worked dead on. refrig works fine as normal thank you
