Bought a new one and put it in. Very easy...all done and it works great
OLD ONE OUT PUT THE NEW ONE IN EASY FIX WORKS LIKE NEW ONE
Followed the instructions I found on the web page when I ordered the part. Could not have made it easier unless they came over and did it for me.
Disconnected power and water supply. Removed ice bin and left rail and bottom ice maker mounting screw. Loosened 2 top mounting screws on top of ice maker. Removed ice maker and disconnected cable. Transferred all hardware and cable to new ice maker and installed in opposite sequence.
Removed the ice maker.3 screws and a plug.Ordered a new one from this site .It was really easy.
Very simple to install if you are over six foot tall, otherwise you will need a stool. The icemaker slips over the screws on the side of the freezer. It's a long reach to disconnect the wire connection. It took me about 5 minutes to install the icemaker. Very satisfied.
followed The YouTube instructions. and it is working fabulously! Thank You
1. Turned off water supply. 2. Removed 3 screws holding the icemaker to the back of frig. 4. Had to use pliers to break off tab where the water supply line enters the icemaker. 5. Connect the electric plug to the new icemaker; this was the most difficult part. I did not realize it was not fully seated and had to pull the unit out the nest day and use some force to make sure the plug was seated. 6. install 3 screws to hold the icemaker to the frig. 7. Turn the water supply on.
I basically followed everyone's example here. But being an engineer I took the old one apart first. Since the new one came with the side entry water fill, I just removed the old rear entry part and took the new one apart too and exchanged it. The wiring harness clips were hard to work with behind the unit, so once I thought the connector was clicked in, I flattened the wires behind the tray and installed the mounting screws. The new system seems to operate quieter. It's good not to see the black flakes on the side of the cubes any more...
