both fridge and freezer were not staying cool/cold enough Frost appeared on the back wall of freezer
Most time consuming portion of this repair was actually defrosting the freezer. Since the thermostat had stopped working, the freezer had stopped defrosting. This is why fridge and freezer were no longer cooling well. We had paid someone to replace this part maybe 7 years ago and I think it cost well over $200! I remember supplying the repair guy with my hair dryer and my towels to do this work and the majority of the time I spent on his was probably for the defrosting! The part replacement itself takes literally 5 minutes. If you are even the slightest bit handy with a tool and own a blow dryer and some old towels, you're all set! The great videos on this site and a big help too! Thanks to this site t and everyone before me who posted tips! My fridge is cooling and freezing like new and it only cost me a total of $25.46!!!

Freezer was frosted - ice melted and dripped down
My freezer was frosted and temperature wasn't cold enough which caused the ice to melt and dripped down, then the door pushed out and ajar. I have to defrost it every 2 days for it to work again. I read some of the comments here and watched the repaired videos. I decided to change both the defrost thermostat (which turned out is the culprit to the problem) and the timer. And the refrigerator is working like new now. Thank a lot. The order experience with this site is amazing. From start to finish, easy and comprehensive search engine, shipping was fast and video installation instruction was to the point. 5 stars!!!

Cold freezer - warm fridge
I actually used NO parts! When I removed the coil cover the evap coils had ice ( fridge was off two hours before I arrived) i cut a tywrap holding the wires and saw it! The defrost thermostat that is in series circuit to the defrost heater had come UN Plugged. Plugged it back in and Voila heater worked finished melting ice, all good. Parts I bought are now collecting dust on top of the fridge. Since Defrost was iffy-sometimes yes sometimes no, I just bought the parts. Lesson , before buying parts might be worth having a look see for say, unplugged defrost heater thermostat.. :-/
