Product Description

If your burner element is not turning on or heating up, it is possible there is an issue with the switch. The surface burner switch, also known as an infinite heat switch, is what turns your burner elements on and off, along with adjusting the temperature settings. The switch is controlled by the knob on the panel, and this knob sits on the shaft for the switch. Please note that burner knobs are sold separately from the switch. Before beginning this repair, you will need to disconnect the power supply to your range, and move it away from the wall so you can access the back panel. A helpful tip to keep your wires straight, is as you remove one from the old switch, immediately attach it to the same terminal on the new switch. If the connection is snug, a pair of needle nose pliers will help. This OEM replacement switch is designed to work with your 8-inch burner elements.

The original switch had leakage, the pilot lamp stayed on, and the burner stayed warm.
I strongly suggest anyone who doesn't have experience doing appliance repair watch the Fix.com video with a guy who really knows what he's doing showing exactly how to do it.

Burner stayed red
Pull oven away from the wall. UNPLUG THE OVEN. Use 1/4" bit to remove 5 screws from upper sheet metal guard on back of stove and set it aside. Connect wires one at a time from old bad switch to new one. Look at the numbers on the connectors as you go. Hard to see them, but the numbers are there and they have to match. Remove the two (tiny ) screws on the front of the control panel that hold the old switch. Get the old switch out of the way, insert the shaft of the new switch in the hole in the panel, and secure it with the two tiny screws you probably dropped into the burner. Plug it back in, push it back to the wall, and cross your fingers. That's what I did and it worked perfectly.

8" eye on stove would go full blast red hot on a low setting
First note: Large eyes have same controllers, small eyes have same controllers. Look at their Amperage ratings and dont swap them around incorrectly. Take off rear panel, unplug wires after marking them, replace. EASY.

The burner element would heat higher than the setting
Followed the steps in the video. It really was that easy. It took more time to put the range back in it's place than to actually change the switch.
