Just remove plug-in elements and replace. Do not use generic universal parts from the big stores. These factory parts are excellent.
Were these instructions helpful?
unscrewed the old element and screwed in the new one. It was extremely simple and easy.
Pulled out the old burner and plugged in the new one. No tools necessary.
The welds were broken on the old surface element so the new one just snapped in place securely with no wobble. Purchase the terminal block as well or you may find out that it is bad too & just replacing the surface element might not fix your problem. I did & I was glad because my terminal block was bad also.
Followed the repair instructions at each of the parts web pages. Also found that the instructions at this location were helpful to understand why the new switch did not look like the original switch.
removed burners, cut wires to each burner, installed new wires from terminal block kit. reinstalled surface element. Followed directions from video located at site of the ordered items
I had been waiting since May for Lowe's to get a new cooktop in, with delay after delay and one finally coming in that was damaged. Decided to fix my cooktop myself and ordered all new elements. Just plugged them in and they worked perfectly, just like getting a new cooktop. And when they say you get them fast, they MEAN it! Ordered the parts on a Sunday and got them on Tuesday!
unplug old element, remove drip bowl , insert new elements and new drip bowl.
pulled out old elements and inserted new ones.
followed instructions on video and enclosed with part, extremely easy, only difficulty I never used heat shrink before, used a lighter on heat shrink but heat gun would be easier if you have one
