Product Description

This is the replacement light switch for your range. It comes with the actual switch, and the hex nut that goes with it. The switch is approximately 1 ¼ inches by 1 ¼ inches, and the hex nut is approximately ½ an inch in diameter. When you press the switch, it allows you to turn the range light on and off. If the light does not come on when you hit the switch, you may need to replace it. Be sure to disconnect your microwave from the power source before you begin this repair. This part is an authentic OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer.

Replacing the light switch but old one fell off before I saw where each wire went. I have black, blue, and yellow wires. Switch has slots labeled L, 1, 2 and 3. Which wire goes in which slot?

Hi Kathy, thank you for contacting us. L is normally the "line" which is "hot". The other numbers are the different speeds, so you will have to try them for the high, medium, low, etc. You should be able to try each to determine which is which. We hope that helps!

Turn off circuit breaker to vent hood. Note how narrow wire channel cover fits into switch cover underneath hood. Remove range burners and sit on range facing switch cover for access to screws with small Phillips head screwdriver. Remove both back wire cover and switch cover screws. Remove covers. Remove plastic control knobs on front by pulling straight off. Do not twist. With pliers or wrench remove two locking nuts. Light switch has three wires. Fan switch has four. Note wire colors and corresponding numbered slots on back of switch. Using end of large paper clip push into wire slot behind wire to loosen spring tension and carefully pull wire straight out. Do all wires in one switch at a time. Keep wire end straight and insert into correct numbered slot on new switch. Do not overtighten locking nuts upon reassembly. Replace knobs. Screw switch cover back on and then narrow wire cover. Turn circuit breaker on. Test new switches.

Range Hood light switch was broken off at the screw thread that comes through the housing.
Cut the power to the unit by turning off the breaker on the panel. Then pulled off the knob for the light switch. From under the inside of the hood I used a Phillips head screw driver to remove the two metal screws securing the wire housing cover plate. This gave access to the broken switch. Sliding a very small straight slot screwdrive r in the small slot beside the wire in the broken switch housing, this releases the wire and you pull it out. I did it one at a time, inserting the wire in the corresponding spot in the new switch so no mixups. Put the switch through the housing put on the retaining nut (gently so as not to break the plastic thread) and put the housing back, and the knob on, and presto! It's fixed!
