Our microwave has power but will not start when the door is closed. Sounds like it needs a switch, but not sure which one? It was working intermittantly after opening & closing the door several times, but now it won't work at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
For model number JVM6175DF1BB

Hello Sara, thank you for contacting us. It looks like the door switches, part number FIX237421, and part number FIX237422, are defective. Door switches monitor the door latch position and communicate to the electronic control board whether the latch is open or closed which can prevent the microwave from turning on when the switch can not read the proper door position. Please reach out to customer service if you need help placing an order, anyone will be happy to assist you. We hope that helps.

The microwave doesn’t heat food. The turntable works the light comes on. The magnetron is good so is the capacitor and diode. The door monitor switch works when disconnected but not when connected. What am I missing?

With microwave door open, microwave was on and running.
I unplugged the cord from wall outlet, so I would not get shocked. I unscrewed the two screws from above the door, and took off the bracket. Then, above the buttons was one screw holding it to the microwave. Remove screw and pull up on the buttons piece, and it comes lose. I let it hang. I unscrewed the door switches bracket (2 screws) and it came lose. I took The secondary door switch and monitor switch (look at both switches very carefully, there is a difference, where the wires attach to the switches.) are on the bottom(middle, and bottom.) and put back together in reverse order. All done! If by chance you open the door and turn table does not work. Replace the fuse behind the button piece. It works!!! All done

Microwave come on by it's self when the door is open, And sometimes it would work when activating the key pad and sometimes not.
removed the surrounding casing, the charcoal filter cover, and the control fixer, when all I had to do was remove the filter cover and fixer for the door switch.

Fan would continue to run with the door open. With the door closed, unit would countdown the time but would not turn on.
Replaced all three door switches even though it was only one that was bad (secondary door switch). Was easy to identify after removing the switch. It did not click and was obvious that it was broken. $60 repair rather than $20 but should not have to worry about any of the door switches for many years. After removing the screws for the sides/top and removing, removed the wires to the switches using long nose pliers, removed the 2 star shaped screws inside the door holding the switch bracket and carefully removing for easy access of switches. Easy as pie!

GE Profile over the range microwave problems.
Open the door, remove the vent diffuser by removing the top two exposed screws. Remove the control panel by removing one screw now exposed from the removed diffuser, pull up on the control board to unseat, then remove the ground screw that keeps it tight to the switches so you can work more easily. The three door switches are easily accessible. Remove the two screws holding the latch bracket, pu the bracket out that's holding all the switches. Remove and replace the switches, then reassemble the microwave in reverse order.
