Product Description

This secondary door switch is also known as a micro switch, and it is a genuine OEM replacement part for your microwave. The switch communicates with the electronic control board, to let it know if the microwave door is open or closed. The purpose of this is so that your microwave does not operate while the door is open. When the door is shut, the switch closes and the circuit completes allowing the appliance to operate. If the switch is faulty, it may result in your microwave not working properly when the door is closed, or it may run when the door is opened, neither situation is ideal and the switch should be replaced. Use extreme caution when replacing this part, as the capacitor is able to store large amounts of electricity even when the microwave is unplugged. Be sure to discharge the capacitor first, or if you are not comfortable completing the repair yourself, please call a service technician.

With microwave door open, microwave was on and running.
I unplugged the cord from wall outlet, so I would not get shocked. I unscrewed the two screws from above the door, and took off the bracket. Then, above the buttons was one screw holding it to the microwave. Remove screw and pull up on the buttons piece, and it comes lose. I let it hang. I unscrewed the door switches bracket (2 screws) a nd it came lose. I took The secondary door switch and monitor switch (look at both switches very carefully, there is a difference, where the wires attach to the switches.) are on the bottom(middle, and bottom.) and put back together in reverse order. All done! If by chance you open the door and turn table does not work. Replace the fuse behind the button piece. It works!!! All done

stopped heating, turntable stopped.
First got some general info from the internet, then removed control panel and saw that of the 3 switches the upper one had a faulty or broken clicker button and the other 2 were ok. So I ordered a switch from the site and got it in 2 days. installed the switch in maybe 15 minutes and put the panel back on and it now works fine. I did it m yself, learned something and saved probably $ 150.00 bucks.

Microwave turns on when door was opened
Disconnect power and remove cover. Hardest part was finding the proper drive for the two screw on the back/bottom cover. These screws are intended to keep end users from taking off the cover. Luckily I had a Sterling repairman with me and I borrowed his drive. Next take the two screws out of the switch housing. This housing will simple sl ide up and make it much easier to get the switch out. I tried to get it out without lifting the housing and I almost snapped off the plastic tabs. Of course don't forget to disconnect the wires from the old switch and replace when housing is back in place. Test it all before you reassemble. Make sure housing is in proper location, switch button is being depressed, oven works properly, etc...

GE Profile over the range microwave problems.
Open the door, remove the vent diffuser by removing the top two exposed screws. Remove the control panel by removing one screw now exposed from the removed diffuser, pull up on the control board to unseat, then remove the ground screw that keeps it tight to the switches so you can work more easily. The three door switches are easily acces sible. Remove the two screws holding the latch bracket, pu the bracket out that's holding all the switches. Remove and replace the switches, then reassemble the microwave in reverse order.
