The carbon brush is used on a variety of tools and are commonly replaced because they wear out easily with time and use. If your brush is worn out it can affect the motor from working properly and reduce electric braking. Tip: to check if the brush is worn out, inspect the wire lead for cracks, burns and other damage. Refer to the diagram provided by the manufacturer for further installation instructions. *Please note: This part is sold individually. This assembly includes a carbon brush, spring and holder.

Power Cord

This is a power cord, and it is used with several power tools. It is made of a thick rubber that is tough, and insulated for a long life. It has two 18 gauge wires, and is 8 feet long. When removing your old cord, take note of the wire leads placements, and how they connect to the receptacle in the tool. You will have to attach the new cord similarly.

Carbon brushes are needed to conduct electricity to the armature through the commutator. The brushes are continuously rubbing against the rotating commutator, so will wear down over time, and will need to be replaced. If you are experiencing excessive sparks, this can also be caused by a damaged armature, so it is best to check it at the same time. This part includes two carbon brushes, which need to be replaced at the same time.
