The primary purpose of the Capacitor is to store electrical energy within the switch box assembly. If your Log Splitter will turn on but not run, or if your Capacitor has become damaged, it may be time to replace the Capacitor. It is white, approximately 4" long, has a wire attached, and is sold individually.
