Door Latch broke
Replace old latch with new. Remove screws holding door face. Remove 4 screws holding latch. Unplug 4 wires going to latch. Replace in reverse order. Did not replace gasket as mine was still serviceable.

Door latch was broken, I thought that was the end of the appliance.
I was thinking to buy a new dishwasher, then I thought that someone could sell the part rather than Sears where they take 2 weeks to bring it. You guys are amazing, it tooks only two days for me to get the part at my front door, then the rest is history. I really recommend this site .. the website is very friendly, the service is really f ast and the price...priceless..thank you.

Broken Door Latch / Switch
This is the 2nd time I`ve replaced this switch in the 20 years I` ve owned this dishwasher. The last time was about 10 or 15 years ago. The panel comes off by removing 6 phillip screws, switch is held in by 2 torx (or star) screws. Pull the 4 wire connections off one at a time with a pair of needle nose pliers. Reverse the procedure to i nstall the new switch.

Door latch mechanism failed
I followed the video's instruction which was shot in HD, and camera angles suitable to observe what an installer needs to see. The repair was done by an experienced appliance repairman. My repair went well until there was a noticeable difference in the replacement latch mechanism. The is a slot in the metal part of the door that the e xisting latch mechanism used for a tab on the bottom of the latch to slide in. The replacement latch had too wide of a tab to enter the slot. I let the new part rest against the metal door over the slot as what the new application intensions seemed to be. I re-fastened with original screws. After re-assembly of the door compartment, I tested the latch by opening and closing the door. It seemed to be perfect. To open and close the door it only took the pressure of my index finger, which confirms to me the repair was done right. The gasket which I did not need was not replaced, but stored for the "If and when". It can be replaced at any time. My experience with gaskets is if it ain't broke; Don't fix it. But if you do replace the gasket do remember cleanliness is next to Godliness. You can do everything right installing it......But if the surfaces that come in contact with the gasket are not clean, I guarantee it will leak. I urge that one takes the time to clean thoroughly with mild dish soap and water. It really will end up being the fastest way. I recommend that you do not use bleach, or apply any substance to the gasket or surface that the gasket is resting in. After the surfaces are cleaned and dry install the gasket as instructed in the video.
