Product Description

If your dishwasher door is not opening or closing properly, it may be time to install a new balance kit. This part helps to support the weight of the door as it opens and closes. You should also check on the condition of the door springs as well, as they work with the balance kit and may also need to be replaced when you do this repair. This genuine OEM parts kit includes two door balance links and two door balance mounts with wheels, which will replace both the left and righthand sides. If you do need to replace the springs, please note that these are sold separately and are not part of this kit. Installing the parts is a simple job, however you will need access to both sides of your dishwasher. This will require pulling it out from under your counter or cabinets. You will need a 5/16 nut driver to remove and replace the new balance mounts, and you may need a Philips screwdriver to remove the mounting hardware in order to pull your dishwasher out to work on. This kit can also be known as a door spring cable kit, or the door cable kit.

The door on my dishwasher used to shut if I shoved it onto the strike, but it doesn't close at all anymore. It makes a clicking sound when I push the door close, but then clicks again and comes undone. Do I need to replace the latch, the strike, and/or the door balance link it? Thank you!

Hi Tarek, Thank you for your question. If you are having to shove the strike into the dishwasher to close it, it sounds like there may be an issue with the latch. You will need to inspect these parts to see which one is causing the issue. You should check the door balance link as well if you suspect there is an issue there. Once you have determined the part you need, please feel free to call customer service. We are open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. We look forward to hearing from you!

Broken balance link nylon cord (cable) due to improper installation. Too much tension.
Looked at video and followed instructions. Be sure to set the link assembly at correct angle - follow what you see in video. The assembly should be straight up & down, not at an angle. Setting at angle causes too much tension on the nylon cord (cable) and makes the door hard to open and keeping in one position.

String on left door balance broke.
1) Remove screw(s) above dishwasher door that hold dishwasher in place.
2) Slide dishwasher out.
3) Replace all parts on both left and right sides with parts in kit.
4) Note: The replacement parts had upper and lower pullys on the pivot. This is MUCH BETTER than the original parts which only had lower pullys. The problem wa s the string would wear through at the upper surface of the pivot where it rubbed the plastic. The upper pully fixes this.

Free falling door
Replaced the door balance links and door balance springs by following directions from the PartSelect videos. Didn't know which thing was the problem until we pulled the dishwasher out, so we ordered both parts. Good thing--the door balance link cable was broken and spring no where to be found. There was enough play in the plumbing and wir es that we did not have to unhook either to pull the dishwasher out.

Plastic cord securer/hook fractured
By the time the door balance link kit arrived, I had fashioned a "home-made DIY" from strong nylon cord with strong "S" hooks by "trial and error" adjusting the length of the cord and by attaching each end of the cord to the "S" hooks with two half hitches. All cost less than $2. When the $23 Door Balance Link Kit arrived, I stuck it un der the dishwasher to use "next time."

Door hinge rope broke.
Took bottom cover plate off. Shut water off Took water supply line off and pulled dishwasher halfway out. Took old ropes off and unbolted pulley sets on both sides. Bolted both pulley sets on and put rope end on spring and pulled on other end over pulleys and hooked on frame. Very easy job.

Door falls when open. Does not close properly.
1. Unscrewed the dishwasher at top and pulled it out from under counter.
2. Noticed that the nylon cord door balance link was broken and the door spring was lying on the floor.
3. Attached the new nylon cord to one end of the spring and then reattached the other end of the spring to the frame.
4. Threaded cord through pu lleys and attached the oval end of cord to the door hook. (Hint: this step is made easier by placing a slotted screwdriver into the oval end and pulling it over top of the door hook and then let the oval end slide onto the door hook.
5. Slide the dishwasher back into place and screw the top of it into the counter.
I replaced both sides so that this problem will not occur for another 8 years. I am sending back the springs which are not needed.
So, either an $18.00 part and 20 minutes of time, or a $250.00 service call. You decide!

Door had no support, banged to bottom open position
removed kick plate at bottom with two 1/4 nut screws, opened door removed to phillip head securing screw at top just inside door. pulled unit out from under counter approx. 1 foot being careful I did not mess up water hose and exit water hose. Took off old balance wheel mount on impacted side and replaced, using 7/16 nut drive. Back spri ng was loose, I used long needle nose pliers to rehook the spring, keeping tension on the newly hooked up balance link sting. Ran string under bottom wheel of balance mount, towards front of door, and then over top towards back, and then around top wheel mount hooking it to frame. Moved until back under counter, reinstalled kick plate and top securing screws. Very simple process once you have viewed the video.
