Product Description

This is a genuine OEM replacement door flap for the ice maker in your refrigerator. This part goes by many different names, including door recess assembly, ice door assembly, dispenser door, ice chute door kit, ice chute door, or dispenser door flap. The flapper provides a seal that prevents warm room temperature air from entering the freezer. When the lever is pushed, this flap opens to dispense ice. Over time and with regular use the seal can fail, which can result in frost building up around the dispenser, or the ice maker will not be able to maintain a cool enough temperature to make ice. To complete this repair, you will need a Philips screwdriver and a small flat blade screwdriver. As you will be working with electrical components, please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your refrigerator before beginning this repair.

micro switch failed - water would not shut off
I watched the video and replaced the switch. It took me about 15 minutes to remove the escutcheon, and about 30 seconds to replace the switch. I was careful because I didn't want to damage the clips on the back of the escutcheon so I went slowly. The water dispenser works properly now. I replaced the ice maker door flapper because it was really cheap and I already had it apart. It took about 10 seconds to replace. The parts came really fast (2 days) and the videos are great.

Frsot build up and ice not coming out of shoot.
Couldn't get the trim board off, don't waste your time trying to do that. Remove the control panel by inserting screw driver in three holes. Lift up and out. Then you can follow the rest of the video explaining how to get your parts in.

Not Quite like the video on older models - ice door limit switch
Our Hotpoint (GE) is older, so does not have touch controls. The 3 position switch assembly has a limit switch on one side, and a plastic arm that snaps into the back of the assembly bracket. If you don't get that arm back in place, the ice door will open - and Never close. Be ready to unplug, or empty the ice bin in advance. Took me a bit to figure out how it worked, and was tricky to get back in place (two tries). But - for you out there w/Newer touch controls, should be simple and quick repair.

Warped Flap on in-door ice dispenser, caused frost in freezer, clogged ice in the chute and prevented flap from closing
After watching this very helpful video, I was able to disassemble the in-door ice dispenser and replace the warped flap with the new part. This was a very easy process, just remember to unplug the appliance! The only tool I needed was a Phillips-head screwdriver.

Flapper had "cupped" allowing warm air to enter the freezer
Using the advice I found here, I located 2 slots underneath each end of the control panel. By inserting a flat blade screwdriver in these slots, the panel pops loose. I disconnected the electrical connections and set it aside. There are 4 phillips-head screws holding the ice chute and and control panel frame on. Once removed, you can easi ly remove the defective flapper and install the new one. Total time is 5-10 minutes. No more frost build-up in the fridge and it's maintaining temps better (with the defective flapper, warm air was causing the freezer to run too often and deep-freeze everything).

Ice buildup in freezer by ice cube outlet
Carefully removed trim ring like the video said. Carefully removed the circuit board. Took out 4screws. Removed the wiring plugins. The plastic unit then came out so I put it aside to get at the flapper. Took the flapper off by carefully prying the little tabs. Then put the new flapper on and reversed the removal steps. Took 15 minutes. B ut watch the video. It explained it very well!

Freezer door flap would not close from the ice dispenser and the door would collect a block of solid ice.
Follow the installation videos they have on their website and it's very easy to replace all of these parts. Only issue I had was the top screw on the selenoid had rusted in place and instead of trying to get it out I simply wiggled the old part out, and wiggled the new one in its place. It worked great. My model has black shiny plastic i nserts for the freezer and refrigerator door and it is easier to take the top trim molding off the freezer door to slide out the decorative plastic which allows you to pop the frame around the icemaker out much easier. Careful not to break clips on the decorative trim.
