The flapper provides a seal that prevents warm room temperature air from entering the freezer. When the lever is pushed, this flap opens to dispense ice. Over time and with regular use the seal can fail, which can result in frost building up around the dispenser, or the ice maker will not be able to maintain a cool enough temperature to make ice. To complete this repair, you will need a Philips screwdriver and a small flat blade screwdriver. As you will be working with electrical components, please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your refrigerator before beginning this repair.
