Product Description

The flood switch in your dishwasher controls the amount of hot and cold water that enters the appliance, ensuring the proper quantity of water to run the cycle. If your dishwasher is over or under filling with water, there may be an issue with the flood switch. This part is a genuine OEM replacement part designed to work with your dishwasher. Before beginning this repair, please be sure to disconnect the power supply to the dishwasher. You should not need to pull the appliance out from underneath the cabinets, but you will need to remove a number of parts from the bottom of the dishwasher to replace the flood switch. These parts include the lower rack, the wash arm, the fine filter and coarse filters, the filter adaptor, and the bracket that holds the switch in place. When removing the old switch, be sure that the o-ring has come out as well, so that the o-ring on the new switch is able to make a tight seal.

Open the dishwasher door and removed 2 plastic nuts holding down the steel mesh plate at bottom. Remove the mesh plate. Near the front, is a plastic ring that you can just lift up. The flood switch is held down by a plastic ring at the bottom, remove the plastic ring by using a socket wrench, with an extension if needed, to remove the 2 s crews holding the ring down. Remove the ring. The switch assembly can then be pulled out, unplugged from the wire adapter and replaced. Note that the base of this area may have leftover dishwasher water, use a paper towel or cloth to soak up if needed. Reverse the steps to complete the repair.

Water would not enter dishwasher
Flood switch was stuck and not allowing water into the dishwasher. Tapped the switch a bit hard and it broke the entire retaining flange. Ordered the flood switch and found a repair manual online. Simply remove both fine and coarse filters (easy). Under the fine filter are 2 screws for the flood switch retainer (round plastic piece). Remo ve them and the retainer and the flood switch pulls straight up. Remove the electrical connector. Reverse the procedure to install replacement flood switch. Quite easy when you know the steps. Hardest part was reinstalling the electrical connector to the switch. Had to remove the toe kick to reinstall it.
