Tools:
Screw drivers, Wrench (Adjustable)
Water was leaking from body of the valve.
1. Shut off the water supply to the refrigerator. 2. Remove rear lower panel that covers the coils, compressor, etc. 3. Use the adjustable wrench (or appropriately sized wrench) to disconnect supply line to the valve. 4. Remove the screw holding the valve bracket to the rear edge of the refrigerator. There is a screw that holds the valve to the bracket, but the new valve comes with this bracket. 5. Remove the wires from the valve and be careful to not damage the connector and also be sure to mark which wire goes to wich terminal. NOTE: I noticed that the LG I purchased had a different wiring harness which was replaced when the unit was serviced and the new harness is easier to reconnect; however, not so easy to remove. You also cannot mix up the wires even by accident. 6. Remove the retaining clip which locks the supply line into place. This is the supply line that runs up to the rear of the refrigerator. NOTE: DO NOT LOOSE THIS CLIP. Your life will suck if you loose this clip. 7. While holding the valve, press down on the edge where the line enters the valve. This will release the line. Installing the new valve. 1. Reconnect the line that runs from the refrigerator and remember after pushing the line back into the valve, replace the retaining clip. 2. Reconnect the wiring harness. 4. Attach the valve to the refrigerator. 6. Reconnect the water supply. 7. Pressure test the valve and lines by turning the water back on. NOTE: Never assume it'll work without a test. :) 9. Put the cover on and tools away. :)
