Right refrigerator door not shutting correctly without assistance..
Our refrigerator is a double door unit with ice and water in the left door. The right door was the one with the problem. First, I removed all items on the door shelves and the shelves themselves to reduce the weight of the door. Second, the plastic lower front grill that covers the lower hinge had to be removed to allow me to eventually get to the hinge bolts.. That grill is held at the ends by spring clamps, which pop out fairly easy.. -- Third, I placed several books under the door, so when the screws were removed, the door would still be resting on the books.. Fourth, I removed the cover on the top hinge assembly and removed the two screws that secured that hinge. Fifth, I lifted the door from the bottom hinge assembly and placed the door horizontally on the kitchen table to allow easier access to the bottom of the door. I then removed two screws from the bottom of the door, which holds the door closing cam and shims in place and replaced them with the new parts. Next was to removed the old hinge assembly on the bottom of the refrigerator and replace it with a new hinge assembly. Time to reinstall the door, aligning the bottom of the door cam over the hinge assembly and setting the door down on it making sure the door sets in the hinge assembly cams. Back to the top of the refrigerator, reinstalled the top door hinge assembly and cover.. Finally, pop the front grill back on to the lower part of the refrigerator, job complete. Total time from start to finish including cleaning the inside of the door and shelves about 30 minutes.

refrigerator door would not close, bottom hinge worn out
I followed the very helpful video. Only problem was door cam needed an adjustment of the set screw hole elongated. A small round file did the trick. Also the shim between the door and the bracket should have been supplied for a more smooth repair. All in all I would use your service again. Joe

I did you tube search and found the problem and easy fix. The repair people wanted $55 just to come and $100-150 for the part that was only $37.00 including shipping. I just followed the you tube tutorial and my husband held the door while I finished tightening the top screws....easy and completed in a very short time!

The bottom hinge wore out and the replacement fit perfectly.
Put a strap around the refrigerator to hold the door in place, and put a support {adjustable jack} under the door to hold it up. Removed the old and put in the new part.

The bottom hinge pin on the refrigerator door on a side by side broke causing the door to fall off.
I first of all removed the grill from the bottom of the door so I could see the whole broken hinge. The grill pops off by just pulling it out on both ends. Not having the model number was concerning, but after seeing the picture of what the GE part looked like on this site I was confident it would work on my door. I removed the food fr om the door shelves and I was fortunate that I could rig the bottom hinge so I could keep the door on without removing all of the food from the refrigerator. The part arrived in two business days. I removed the door and placed it on it's side. I removed the top hinge cover with a phillips screwdriver and then removed the top and bottom hinges on the refrigerator with a 5/16 socket. I then removed the cam from the bottom of the door and replaced it with the new cam and tightened the new cam back into place. I then replaced the bottom hinge pin on the refrigerator with the new hinge and tightened into place. I then seated the door onto the bottom hinge and while holding the door on the bottom hinge I inserted the original top hinge pin into the top of the door and tightened it down. I then adjusted the top bracket to allow the door to close and seal properly. After opening and closing several times to assure a snug seal I tightened down the top hinge cover and attached the grill on the bottom of the refrigerator. Total time 25 minutes.
