No water to dishwasher
Pulled off front panel and ran the dishwasher through the cycle with a voltmeter hooked up to the water solenoid valve. Was getting 110, so I figured the solenoid was bad. (Had already made sure the float was free and the door switch was working). I'd changed a water valve out once before and it was pretty easy so I ordered the part and it arrived in a couple of days. Unplugged the cord, removed the waterline and then removed 2 screws holding the old unit. Re installation is the reverse. The only trouble I had was installing the screws. After about 10 minutes of trying to get the screws started with no success, I pulled the valve back out and realized there are no threads in the holes. The screws are self-tapping and once I ran the screws in it went together without any problems. So... Tip for those reading this, drive the screws 1/2 way into the hole before you start the installation. It makes things a lot easier. That done, I reattached the water line (which didn't exactly line up with my copper tubing because the elbow didn't point the right direction when snugged up, so I had to use a lot of Teflon tape to get it sealed.) That done, when I turned it on the water still didn't fill. My big mistake was that I checked all the electrical circuits up to the water valve but didn't realize it won't fill with water until the drain solenoid activates, and guess what? My drain solenoid was the culprit. I laid on the floor and watched the machine cycle and when the drain solenoid activated (it's right under the center of the dishwasher) I could see a little water leaking down and shorting it out. Since I'd already dropped $30 on the water valve I didn't think it was worth having to replace the solenoid valve for $50 plus whatever it would cost to replace the drain tube. It's an 18 year old dishwasher so I'm just getting a new one. That said, the Parts Select site was helpful and they're prices and shipping were fine, so don't let my situation deter you from tackling the job. My biggest tip take a good look at the dishwasher in action. Once I looked at it, the drain solenoid was covered in crud and the water valve looked fine - that should have been my first clue.

would not fill with water
removed base plate and upper plate just below the door. i followed your instructions. it was a little tight work area, but just had to take your time. the only problem i ran into was the bracket on the replacement part did not match the old one, so i had to make a few adjustment, got everything back together , fired it up, and she works like new. my advise to everyone is bring all the right tools, follow the instructions , TAKE YOUR TIME.
