Product Description

The ice maker assembly makes ice by filling the tray with water from the inlet valve, freezing it until solid cubes are formed, and then ejecting them into the ice bucket. This process will repeat until the bucket has reached capacity. If your fridge is no longer making ice, the assembly may need to be replaced. This is a genuine OEM replacement that measures 10 inches by 5 inches in size and will make seven crescent shaped pieces of ice each cycle. The kit is mainly made of white plastic, and includes a 4-pin round plug-in connector, a 6-post plug-in connector, tube, and fill cup. Depending on your frequency of use, the ice maker may need to be replaced every three to ten years. Regular wear and tear is the main reason this part may need to be replaced but be mindful of accidental damage.

No water is being dispensed into ice maker.
For model number MODEL NO. GSH22JFXL WW
Fix.com logo
Hello Pete, thank you for your question. We have researched your model and found that the issue is probably with the water filter, part number FIX8746144. A clogged and damaged filter can make the ice maker water deprived. If that does not take care of the issue, then the problem is most likely to be related to the water valve, part number FIX16226572. The water valve supplies water to the ice maker. If you require assistance placing an order, please contact customer service. We hope that helps!

Ice maker makes ice cubes but are dumped into bin frozen together. What is causing this? (is a bottom drawer freezer & see no visible water filter anywhere)
For model number GDE20GSHBRSS
Fix.com logo
Hello Joan, Thank you for your inquiry. If the refrigerator is not cooling insufficiently it can cause the ice to melt and then clump together. Also when the defrost cycle is activated, it passes heat through the freezer. Sometimes this heat causes the ice to melt and then refreeze, which can cause it to freeze together in clumps. If you add more items into the freezer, it helps deflect the warmth from the defrost cycle from directly hitting the ice. We would recommend first cleaning the ice bin and removing any particles that could be causing ice buildup which can also cause clumping. Make sure the freezer temperature is at 0 degrees or below at all times. Check the temperature sensor, defrost thermostat, and defrost heater with a multimeter. Good luck with your repair.

Ice maker stopped making ice
Super easy. Loosen 2 screws. Disconnect power line. Take out broken part and plug in new part then slide icemaker back in place and tighten 2 screws. Saved me the $89 service call plus whatever they would have overcharged for the part! And no waiting around for repair guy!

Replace Ice Maker
First I watched the video. Then I removed the lower motor to get to the ice maker plug (3 screws) then loosen the two screws holding the ice maker up and unplugged it and put the new one in. Put motor back in that covered the ice-maker plug and it was a fix. A perfect match even for a refrigerator over 10 years old. Absolutely the easi est fix I have had on any refrigerator. And had i not watched the video i would of never tried this myself. This is the second time I have used your videos and saved myself hundreds of dollars.. Oh by the way I am over 60 years old and a girl.

Ice not dispensing in GE Profile - water dispensed fine
Ran diagnostic - claws rotated, water filled spout - but no release of cubes. Assume heating element for cube release defective. 1st symptom was ice jam on bottom of icemaker. Tried blow dryer with no success. Replaced ice maker and began dispensing in 90 minutes.

Ice maker was not making ice
The ice maker is held on by two screws. I backed them out, unplugged the unit and simply reversed the procedure. Piece of cake.!!!!!Initially I thought my original problem, w the old unit, was a frozen water line and not the ice maker as there was no water filling the tray. But once I plugged in the new unit the water started filling the ice tray. PS The swing out arm, pops out, once u plug in the unit.

Ice Maker not working.
Installation was fairly easy following the directions except for 3 items. 1. You are instructed to remove the strippr from the old ice maked and place it on the new one. The old part does not fit. The molded tabs are different. And WHY would you pay for a new ice maker and have to use old parts? 2. The supplied power cord is 8" long er that the original part. it is quite stiff. I finally tie wrapped it inot an accordian to allow the bucket into the freezer. Even so it hang up on the bucket. If anyone else takes the bucket out they will have difficulty properly getting it back in place. 3. LASTLY, since I had questions about items #1 & 2 above I called the "help" number listed throughout the instructions. After getting through I was told there was no help to be had. Call a technician! Don't be dissuaded by my rant. The job is easy. It could be easier if the cord was the proper length BOTTOM LINR- it works!.

Needed a new ice maker
The manufacturer changed the model so it wasn't an exact match. But after some repurchase online w/ the model number of the original ice maker. I found that this was the recommended part , pushed a wire out of the way & bingo we have ice.

Ice maker quit working
unplug refrigerator from electricity or turn off circuit breaker that supplies power to the refrigerator. remove and set aside ice tray and top shelf from freezer compartment. unscrew two hex head screws at top of and holding ice maker in freezer just loosen these screws out about a 1/4 inch, do not remove them. remove the screws holdin g the motor for the ice screw that moves ice out of tray. pull on the motor and just drop it down out of way. now unplug the ice makers electrical plug from back wall of freezer. There are tabs on each side of this plug that you have to pull out at bottom in order to be able to pull plug out. then lift up on ice maker and clear two screws which hold ice maker in. pull ice maker out of Freezer. put new ice maker in freezer by placing the ice maker"s two screw holes over the two hex head screws and pull ice maker down until it won't pull down any further. make sure its level and then tighten screws firmly. plug electric cord into receptical on back of freezer wall make sure you hear it snap and lock into position. Re-align the ice screw motor in place and insert screws and tighten. Replace ice tray making sure fitting on the back of ice tray meshes with the mechanism on the ice screw motor. replace the top shelf of freezer. turn power to refrigerator on then wait until ice starts to fall into tray. may be more than an hour.
