One electric elements didn't work at all & the other one was on high setting even on low.
Went on line and down loaded instructions. Turned power off at junction box & also unplugged range from wall. Removed non-functioning infinite switch (2) and used serial # to order proper switches. The range was so old (33 yrs) I could find model # that would match. Switches arrived in 3 days, installed and working great. The only ne gative is, the wife isn't getting a new range.

iNSTALLATION INSTRUCTION CONFUSING
The installation instructions that came with the switch were confusing as the new switch was to replace many different models. I just hooked the wires to the terminals that were identified (labeled) as the same though they were in different locations from the originals. None of the bushings for the knob fit the old knob so that I slippe d the knob on the shaft measured how much I had to remove and clipped off the shaft. Works fine!

Burner not working /switch replacement
These instructions are for older GE electric ranges w/ an oven over the range top, and the burner and oven controls on the right side of the upper oven. 1) disconnect power at the breaker panel or unplug unit. 2) open the exhaust vent door above the upper oven and remove the same vent door by using a flat screwdriver on the spring lo aded hinge pin(s). 3) Remove the phillips screw on the right side (over the clock) that holds the control panel in place. The entire control is hinged at the bottom and once the screw is removed it will tilt out from the top and provide access to all of the burner & oven controls. (Note there is no need to move the range or access it from behind) 4) Slide the knob off the switch that is being replaced and remove the 2 screws that hold it in place. 5) Transfer the wires from the old switch to the corresponding lugs on the new switch. 6) Measure the shaft length of the old switch and adjust the length of the new shaft following the instructions provided and use the appropriate adapter provided to match your knob. 7) Install the switch with the screws provided or use the old ones. (I found that a magnetic screwdriver was helpful)

Two burners on the stove weren't working. Two bad switches.
1. Open breaker or pull fuse block. 2. Pull stove out from the wall. 3. Remove upper back panel. You may have to remove the upper screw on the lower panel to get the upper panel off. 4. Pull the burner knob off. 5. Remove two screws that hold the switch in. 6. Transfer wire/connectors one at a time from the old switch to the new switch. 7 . Install the new switch with two screws. A binder clip may be used on the shaft to hold the switch until the screws are installed. 8. Select a plastic adapter that matches your knob. 9 Using two pairs of pliers, snap the switch shaft off at the right length. 10. Install the knob. In my case the knob sticks out a little further from the control panel than the original or other knobs. That is due to the plastic adapter. I connected power and tested function at this point. There are exposed electrical connections. Care must be taken. Remove power before proceeding. 11. Install the upper panel on the back. 12. Push the stove back into position. 13. Restore power.
