Microwave was buzzing and humming loudly.
Removed trim kit from around the microwave then pulled it out of the wall. Removed the outer cover of the microwave. Located the diode, tested it then replaced it and the magnetron. All with a phillips head screwdriver. Took care of the problem.

Following the info on the site, I checked the fuse, it was OK, I checked the diode and thought it had failed so I ordered one. As it turns out, the diode in the microwave does not test out like a normal diode. i.e. when I set my Fluke multi-meter to the diode position, it showed open in both directions. In the Ohm position, I indicated ar

ound 13 MegOhms in one direction and open in the other. Since the old one measured the same as the new one I deduced that both diodes were OK and I ordered the wrong part. That left only the Magnetron, and it was, indeed, the culprit. The most time consuming part of the procedure was getting the microwave and trim kit out of the built-in cabinetry. Aside from that, provided you have a security torx bit to remove the cabinet screws, it's an easy change out. If you don't know what a security torx bit is, it looks like a normal torx bit with the exception of the hole in the end. That hole fits over a pin in the torx socket on the screw. Without it, forget opening the cabinet.
