Does anything go in before the actual wash plate goes into place? The big round silver part goes the bottom of the basket.

Hello Sandy, thank you for your question. With the lid opened, take a flat head screw driver and insert one of the three ends on the triangle shape on the cap. Pry up and then do the same thing for the other two. Thank you and have a great day.
