Product Description

This door lock and switch assembly is an authentic OEM replacement part for your front load washing machine. The lock is used to prevent the door from opening while the machine is running, and the switch indicates that the door is closed, allowing the washer to begin its wash cycle. Attempting to open the washer door while it is still locked can cause damage to these parts. If your washer door will not open, close, or lock, you may need to replace the lock and switch. Please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your washer before beginning this repair.

Door would not close/latch.
Removed door from washer. With door on flat surface all the screws are easily removed to replace striker & door hinge/ bushings. Pay attention to bushings position when removing so as to replace them in the same position. Video shows a guy pulling the door gasket off to replace the door lock & switch assembly. Skip that & remove the top c over from the washer. Only two screws in the back hold it on & it's a lot easier to reach inside & pull the switch up than fighting with the door gasket. With the new door hinge, door closes easier & more solid than when brand new. Easy fix.

Front loading washer would drain but not spin (drum still turned, though).
Removed the metal collar (the spring is at the bottom under the lip of the seal; just stretch the spring with some pliers and remove the ring) holding the door seal on. Pulled out the side of the door seal covering the lock mechanism (not the whole seal). Unscrew the two screws in the latch, pull out the mechanism, unplug the connectors, then install the new mechanism by reversing the process. Problem solved in 10 minutes.

My front load washer would not spin.
After receiving the part I decided not to follow the direction of the video that was suggested. Instead, I removed the top of the washer by removing the two screws that hold it on. I unplugged the washer. Then I removed the two screws in the front of the washer that held the part in. I reached down through the top of the washer, grabbed the part, unplugged all the wires, took the new part, plugged all the wires into it. Put it back in place, re-installed the screws in the front of the washer that keeps the part in place. Put the top of the washer back where it belongs and screwed it in place. I was done in less than fifteen minutes. I found this way to be little better for me because I did not have to take the seal off the washer drum. I was concerned that I would damage the seal.

First it wouldn't spin at the end of the cycle; then it wouldn't start.
I thought the problem might be the control panel, which would be very expensive to replace. I went online to check, thinking I might as well replace the washer. I found this site and discovered it was the door lock and switch, for $68. I've never been a DIYer but I took a risk. It was very easy. First unplugged the machine. I saw t hat removing the door gasket would be difficult and decided to take the top off. Two screws in front, four in back, lifted it up. Reached in for the switch, pulled out three connectors on old part, plugged in new part, screwed it in place, and replaced cover. I've been bragging to all my friends. (I'm a 75-year-old retired woman.) Thanks,

Door lock went bad and the washer would not start.
I took the lower front panel off and took the 2 screws off the switch assembly, then reach up inside and disconnect the 3 wire sets. remove the assembly. before putting in the new unit in, it helps to screw the screws in and out of the unit first it makes it easier to put them in when you install the unit. to make it easier to install I t ook a small piece of 2 x 4 and pushed the tub back and put the 2 x 4 between the tub and the front of the washer. install the unit remove the 2 x 4 reinstall the front panel and your done.

front load washer would start to wash then stop agitating.
We followed video instructions provided by this site repair for the water inlet valve. We continued with door lock assembly by working through top of machine instead of taking off rubber seal. This was an option that video suggested but did not show. Washer was repaired and is now working just fine. Thank you for providing video.

Washer would not go into spin mode regardless of settings.
The video for changing the Door Lock and Switch Assembly helped, but I could not remove the rubber gasket of the front loader, as it showed there. But it was easy to slide off the top of the washer after removing two screws (unplug the washer first). Then you can unscrew the old Assembly (Part No. PS2367737). To unplug the wires and ge t it out, you have to snake your arm down the inside front. Someone with thin arms can do it best. Then connect the wires to the new part (easy), snake it back down in place, and screw it in as the video shows. Slide the top back on, and put the screws back on. It works great again!
