Product Description

The upper spray arm is found above the top rack in your dishwasher. If your dishes are not properly cleaned after the cycle has finished, the spray arm may need to be replaced. As the part is made of plastic, it can crack or disintegrate over time. Replacing this OEM part is a simple repair that does not require any tools. Remove the rail stop clips from the top rack rails, and then remove the top rack from the dishwasher. With the rack out of the way you will be able to access the upper spray arm. Unthread the nut holding the spray arm to the ceiling of the dishwasher, and remove the damaged spray arm. Line up the new spray arm, and begin to thread the part onto the inlet tube. The nut should be firmly tightened so that there are no leaks, and the spray arm should be able to spin freely. The top rack can be placed back inside the dishwasher, and the rail stops reattached.

The old spray arm was falling off. This was due to an inner teflon washer that was worn out.
Step 1: Watch the video. The trick on how to remove the upper rack is useful so that you can get it out of the way.
Step 2: When trying to screw the part into the threaded pipe on the top of the dishwasher, the threads on the new part did not match! I am not sure if the mismatch was the threads-per-inch or the diameter, because the diameters (about 1.5 inch) were similar. However, I noticed that the threaded part was removable and had the same inner diameter as that of the new part.
Step 3: Removed new threaded part from the new swing arm, and replace with the old threaded part. This part of the old assembly was in good condition. So, this makes a hybrid: old threaded "nut" clicks onto the new swing arm. I used the small flat-head screwdriver to push the plastic barbs a little bit to ensure they properly attach the two parts.
Step 4: Screw the assembly into the upper threaded pipe where it belongs. All is well. Multiple dish-washings later, it is still OK.

The upper spray arm kept popping off during wash cycle.
I ordered the parts according to my model number. The replacement part comes already assembled, but is actually 2 pieces. I had to snap them apart carefully. The reason for this is that THE NEW TIGHTENING NUT COMES WITH A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT DIAMETER AND THREAD PATTERN. The part numbers listed on the arms are different, but this is the on ly one available, I looked. I had to utilize the old nut and snap the new spray arm onto it, since the piece that was actually broken was in the inner circle of the arm. When snapping them apart, in the circle there are two notches you must gently push on. Once you have the arm on the old nut, just screw it onto the delivery tube in the top of the dishwasher and you are good to go. Although I ordered the gasket, I figured out that I did not need it, it goes up above the delivery tube.

The arm came apart and was laying in the top rack.
I unscrewed the retaining nut, by hand and threading the new arm on snuggly, the parts are plastic, so care must be taken when replacing the arm. I tried to tighten the nut the same as it was when I removed it.
