Door Spring Replacement
Removed two bottom panels and screws holding dishwasher to cabinet. Pulled washer out about 8 inches. My bad, did not turn off power or water. I replaced water hose once so knew the turf, so to speak. Found one spring still there and located broken parts of the other one. Replaced both springs and used next tighter slot so door balance is better. Closed and drank coffee. Job complete.

Door Spring Broken
Replacing the door spring on the left side of the door was very time consuming, since it's hard to get your hands inside and is very sharp, plus it's hard to get good lighting. I'm sure a professional would have pulled the DW out or maybe he/she has done it so many times, can do it blindfolded!! We did get the spring on, but it took us alm ost 2 hours. First we removed the bottom front plate of the dishwasher, then retrieved the broken spring. then watching a youtube video, it seemed easy. First we put the spring on backwards, then had to take it off and put the long end in the front, short end on the notches in the back that adjusts the tension. Moved the door up and down and determined that the spring needed to be move further back to make the door go down slower. We probably saved about $150, but make sure you have time and not rush the job.

Dishwasher Door falling open when not latched
First I had to loosen the two screws securing the top of the dishwasher to the underside of the counter top. Second, pull the dishwasher out of the opening about one foot so I could access the springs on each side near the bottom. Though only one spring was broken I replaced both because I like to do this kind of repair in pairs. The spri ngs were easily removed and the new ones installed with no tools required. IMPORTANT: make sure tension is set so the door shuts easily with one finger but does not close by itself. Then slide the dishwasher back in place and put the two under counter screws back and be done with it!

replace broken door springs with new ones
1) remove the two lower front panels below the door by unscrewing 4 screws (2 on each side of each panel). 2) open the front door & let it gently drop down to horizontal. 3) unscrew the two small screws that fasten the two under-counter dishwasher brackets to the underside of the counter-top 4) Using an adjustable wrench or slip-joint pliers, turn the two front adjustable feet at the bottom front of the unit until they are retracted enough for the dishwasher to be slid out from it's under-cabinet position by about 10 inches or so (so you can gain access to the open sides of the cabinet where the springs are located). Grab hold of the dishwasher under the door, and over the top front and pull it out qbout a foot or so until you can see the notched rails on the sides of the dishwasher where the far-end of each new spring will hook into. Remove old springs & hook on new springs to door first (long end of spring hooks onto door flange), then stretch short end and hook over one of the notched rail locations (same distance for each side), and test tension & move short ends of springs to different notched locations until tension favors slight closure of door. Push dishwasher back into place, raise adjustable feet to old positions, re-install the two under-counter bracket screws & re-install both lower panels - you are now done!

open door remove 2 screws at top of dishwasher that is mounted to bottom of counter top slide washer out app.6 to 8 in. remove 2 screws that hold 2 pieces of panel down at the bottom next to floor. note on some cases you may have to run adjustable feet on both sides in to make clearance. determine the hole that the spring goes in on side of washer then the hole on door the long end of spring goes to the door then use a spring stretcher to pull spring up to door careful not to bend or dent new spring as will cause new part to fail soon also. slide washer back in place adjust feet back put on panels top screws back. finished
