Product Description

The push-to-start switch is a genuine OEM part for your dryer. When the button is pressed and released, it activates the dry cycle for your laundry. If your dryer will not start or it shuts off too soon, there may be an issue with the start switch and it should be replaced. Please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your dryer before beginning this repair, as you will be working with electrical components.

My Admiral dryer was purchased in 2008. I'm having a difficult time removing the switch. Don't want to force it...a helpful tip would be great! The plastic housing is the issue.

Hello Stu, thank you for reaching out. To remove the switch, you may need to follow these instructions: 1. First, remove the start knob by simply pulling it out. 2. Remove the back panel by unscrewing all the screws on it. 3. Lower the back panel and take the switch out by prying down on the little release tab on top with the help of a screwdriver. 4. Pop the wires out of the switch with the help of a screwdriver. 5. Install the new switch by reversing the same procedure. Good luck with your repair!

This was a 2-step repair. First I replaced the door switch, because the light would not come on when the door was opened... that solved that problem in about 5 minutes - repair was very easy it required a philips screwdriver and a putty knife. Didn't solve the starting/keep running problem. Ordered a new start button... again the repla cement was really very easy, (philips screwdriver and needle nose pliers) - button design was changed from mine, but only caused confusion for a few minutes. But, BUMMER, the dryer still did not run correctly. Son had an inspiration... he rotated every knob several times and voila! Problem was probably contact corrosion. The door switch was necessary, but the start switch probably was not. For now the dryer is working well. No more clothesline! I would recommend this site to anyone for their help and the informative videos they include with your order.
