The direct drive water pump is used in washing machines that do not have belts, to remove water from the tub during the drain cycle. It is located on the motor and attached by two clips. The drain pump has two ports for water to pass through, one port is larger than the other, and this is where the hoses connect. If your washer leaks, will drain the water, or is filling and draining at the same time, there may be an issue with your pump. Blockages or clogs in the hoses may be contributing to this. Before you replace the pump, be sure to disconnect the power and water lines to your appliance. This repair requires a pair of slip-joint pliers, a flat head screwdriver, and a putty knife.
