This is an OEM part sourced directly from Amana. This flat style oven igniter is used in ranges. As current flows through the ignition circuit the ignitor heads up and begins to glow, the warmer it gets the more current it draws. When the ignitor reaches a certain temperature the safety valve opens and allows gas to flow, the hot ignitor then lights that gas. This oven igniter is the inches in length, it features a short ceramic body, and comes with the wire connector. It does not come with the mounting bracket. Do not touch the black element, it is extremely fragile. You will need a 1/4-inch nut driver and a flat head screwdriver to successfully install this replacement part. Before you begin the repair make sure you have unplugged the appliance and shutoff the gas supply.

oven stopped turning on
After reading around about the common problem of the oven ignitor failing, I ordered the part from this site to take on the repair. It arrived broken the first time, but their customer service quickly replaced it with a new one. The part was basically plug-and-play. It required pulling out the rear shelf, accessing the ignitor (one nut an d 3 screws), swapping out the part and reconnecting the tabbed connector. Result was a cheap and easy fix. Now the oven works even better than before.

The gas oven was not heating, it would heat up to about 120 degrees and vey slowly
Step 1: Reviewed the blow up diagrams of the oven locating the part. Shut off electricity and gas.
Step 2: Pulled oven out from its location between kitchen counters and wall. Cleaned up the floor and sides of stove. I should have searched "U tube" for gas igniter installation before just pulling off the rear access panel. The ga s igniter was located under a v shaped deflector at the bottom of the oven compartment. The blow up diagrams that pop up on the Fix info are not all that helpful. Once the igniter is located it is relatively easy to replace by removing the tube holder housing, clipping the electrical wire and then working from the back panel, unclipping the old connection and and then pushing the new connector clip back into the socket and attaching the screw holding the tube housing.

igniter turns red but oven wouldnt lite
take out racks and burner cover. remove 3 screws on old igniter .Take out draw and remove back cover 2 screws. you will see igiter wire and plug ,unplug. go back in oven and remove old igniter pull wire thru.Install new igniter being careful not to touch new igniter fork, install and put back 3 screws. go underneath and plug in new one. r eplace cover with 2 screws put back draw. all done .good as new .all for only $62.00 . thanks to someone else post . do just read the first post i almost didnt do it . i read down maybe 6 or 7 until one guy figured it out. it really only took 15 minutes. I an 56 year old woman. it was so easy . thank you . saved me from buying a new stove.

simple repair one nut holds cover in oven then removed 3 screws holding old igniter removed drawer 2 screws to uncover connection unplugged old igniter plugged in new part reinstall. Worked perfectly.

Old igniter short cycling, not getting hot enough for ignition
The Amana stove this part was used in was 19 years old. The part was a perfect match. The only issue was that I had to remove the access cover ( 2 screws) after taking out the bottom drawer in order to unplug the electrical supply connection. The connection block was too big to pull through burner hole. Would have been a 5 minute repa ir, turned out to be just a half hour.

After a period of very slow heat up, the oven would not heat up at all.
Took out bottom draw. Unplug oven. Removed burner cover from oven. Unscrewed burner shield nut and removed burner shield. Unplugged igniter and removed gas distbutor/igniter assembly from oven. Replaced igniter. Reinstalled assembly making sure gas distributor was positioned correctly over gas outlet valve. Plugged in igniter. Plug i n oven. Check if the igniter ignites the gas by operating the oven. Replace shield and cover. Done

Our gas oven stopped heating up
Saw a couple of how-to videos, found this website and ordered the oven igniter. Just remove all the screws from the flame cover, find the igniter, remove it from it's protective housing. Then pull out the bottom drawer, find the connecting socket and disconnect the old one. Slide the new one into the protective housing, connect it into th e socket, thread it through the hole and screw everything back together. INSTANT fix, very easy and oven works like new.

Oven wouldn't light and you can smell gas. The GlowPlug at the bottom was lit but was dim.
Almost as easy as changing a light bulb. Open door, remove bottom tray(lifts right up), remove 'V' shaped cover, unscrew the glow plug bracket, attach new glow plug, put covers back. Turn on oven and bake me some cookies! Took 10 minutes to fix and saved me hundreds. The part cost about $50 from this site as opposed to going to the Parts place near me and it costs $65. Part arrived in less than 24 hours with free shipping. Can't ask for more. Thanks

Oven does/did not ignite
OK! So, UNPLUG THE OVEN AND TURN THE GAS VALVE OFF! Then get a small/medium Phillips screwdriver- open the oven door. On the bottom in the back you'll see the ignitor. There are 3 screws holding a small metal cage where the ignitor tip rests. Remove screws, and carefully pull off cage. Pull the bottom storage drawer out- you'll need to re ach way in the back under there to unclip a wire connector/plug. Go ahead and disconnect the existing ignitor, being careful it doesn't shatter, and grab your new ignitor- thread the connecting plug through where the old wire came out (where the cage was) and then reach back under the bottom drawer and connect the new ignitor where the old one was. Carefully put the cage on the new ignitor tip, replace the 3 screws, shift the oven back into place, plug it back in and turn the gas valve back on. When you are sure you've connected the ignitor plug properly and plugged the power back in and turned the gas back on, turn the oven on and it should (hopefully) ignite the oven! I hope this helps and your oven works!

Oven Ignitor Not Working Properly
Thankfully, I was able to find a video on YouTube of someone making a similar repair, so I was able to see the basics of where to look for things and what would need to come out. First: Unplug the range and shut off the gas. Then, remove the oven door (allowing access to the part to be changed). Next, remove the drawer under the oven. Then, remove the "pan" on the bottom of the oven revealing the gas pipe and ignitor. Using a Phillips Head screwdriver, access under the oven (through where the drawer sits), and remove the stainless plate the protects the plug for the ignitor. Then, unplug the ignitor. Inside the oven, remove the three screws holding the ignitor in place, and remove the ignitor and housing. Remove the ignitor from the housing. This will be really tough as it's a very tight fit. Once the old ignitor is removed, replace it with the new one, being very careful not to break the ceramic tip. Again, this will be a very tight fit. You might consider dabbing a small amount of vegetable oil on the handle part of the ignitor to help it slide a little more easily. Once that is in the housing, return the ignitor back to its place inside the oven, feed the power cord through the hole at the back of the oven, and screw in place. Moving back under the oven, plug the ignitor in, and replace the Stainless Steel cover. Before closing everything back up, plug the range in, turn on the gas, and turn on the oven. The ignitor should begin to glow, and after about 30 seconds, the gas should light. If the ignitor doesn't begin to glow within 30-45 seconds, turn the oven off, and check the power connection to the ignitor. After the ignitor begins to glow, the gas should ignite within another 30-45 seconds. You may need to light the burners on the stove to clear any air out of the gas line. Once the gas has ignited, turn the oven off, return the bottom plate, and replace the door and drawer. You should now be cooking with gas.

An exact replica of original igniter.
The Oven is Omana, and this part precisely replicated the original oven igniter, with its 11 inch electrical lead and correct white plastic connecting plug. The hard part of the repair was figuring out access to the connector (which involves taking out the draw below the oven, and removing a covering plate at the back, revealing the connection point.) The easy part was fitting the new part once it arrived. That took only 2 minutes, and then oven worked as normal. The igniter part does NOT include the metal bracket, so you have to remove the old one from the bracket (requires careful tapping with a hammer), and the new one slid into the bracket fairly easily.
