Internal Worm Gear to Electric Motor Stripped
After looking at your sites great exploded views I was able to disassemble the motor assembly. Replaced the brushes and damaged gear assembly . Reassembled Worked great.Wife's china made mixer had diecast internal parts that shattered after her attempt to mix cookie dough. Now with this USA made Kitchen Aid Mixer she can mix concrete wit h coke bottles and never work hard. Thank You for you great site and delivery ethic. Only wish my Hitachi ex50urg excavator had a parts exploded views as you do. Also Worm gear and bracket had improvements to redirect lube grease to keep improved gear material well lubricated.

I followed these video instructions. Note: you will need the roll punch as a substitute will not work. Also, use the punch before removing the stand base as this will make it easier to keep it stable.

Our 33 year old mixer was making a grinding/screeching noise.
I disassembled the mixer as shown in the online video & replaced the part which was attached with 3 screws. The noise is gone & my wife is happy! And, I am happy that we did not need to spend hundreds for a new mixer. I would recommend that if you think that this part will fix your problem, that you replace the entire worm gear & brack et unit rather trying to replace only the plastic worm gear because that would involve a greasy mess of more work for a savings of just a few dollars.

Mixer gearing won't operate or is noisy.
Remove the pin joining the planetary (the rotating piece) to the shaft using a punch and hammer. Then pull the planetary off of the shaft by rotating back and forth while exerting downward pressure. Remove all screws (9) holding the halves together. Loosen the power cord from the rear slot and carefully lift and remove the upper half turn ing it upside down. Remove and replace the gear assembly and remove and replace all grease with food-based lubricant. Replace gasket if necessary. Oil motor and linkages. Adjust planetary speed, using the lowest middle screw on the rear panel, to 60 rpm at the number one position. Reassemble. Clean, polish and touch-up.

Stipped the worm gear (wouldn't turn anymore)
My mixer was a heavy-duty, so the stand is stationary (doesn't flip up like the video's all show). After trying for about 30 minutes to figure out how to get the top off to expose the gear (about step 5), I finally took out the large screws that connected the base to the top (just under the top section, and found that underneath that pla te there were four additional screws that were holding the two halves of the top together. Very easy to install the new gear. After putting the two halves back together, BE SURE TO TURN THE GEAR UNTIL THE HALVES SETTLE ALL THE WAY BACK INTO PLACE. Mine nested in, but was off about 1/16 - 1/8" so I couldn't get the pin back in. I finally put the hole punch in the hole and jiggled it a little bit and it settled in the last 1/8" so that I could put the pin back in. Easy, peasy from there! :)

stripped out the worm gear
This is a relatively easy repair. There are a number of steps to getting access to the gear and bracket but easy to figure out. Once the assembly is opened up the gear bracket is exposed and three screws removes it and reinstalls the new piece. Once it is exposed I recommend cleaning the inside of all the old grease and putting fresh i n. I also recommend replacing the Transmission Case Gasket. Both can be purchased from this site. Then reassemble. Prior to putting the back housing piece on, which is the one of the last pieces take a few minutes to look on uTube for instructions on how adjust the speeds of the mixer. This is also very simple and frankly shouldn't be overlooked. Many mixers seem to loose "speeds" over time. A tune up repairs all the presets so the mixer is running at the appropriate speeds and all the speeds. Mine seemed to not have two of the speeds, and initially I thought I had lost some gears. But a tune up restored them.
