Product Description

The control bracket, also known as a dispenser control bracket, holds the switches and light socket for the water and ice dispenser on your freezer door. If you are having issues with the dispenser not providing water or ice, or your ice maker is not working, you may need to replace the control bracket. It is found behind the panel, or escutcheon, for the dispenser. Before beginning this repair, you should disconnect the power to your fridge as you will be working with electrical components. You will need to remove the spacers for the two switches and the light socket from the old bracket and place them on the new one. This is a genuine OEM replacement part.

Not dispensing Water or Ice
Repair was quite simple and fixed part of the problem...it does dispense water now but I'm afraid the driver for ice dispensing is locked u. That part is expensive and I'll forgo dispensing ice.

Ice dispenser would not operate.
Disconnected door harness under top hinge cover. Removed keyboard bezel by prying bottom loose then lifting up and out. Took two photos of control board wiring. Disconnected control board wiring by pulling with needle nose pliers. Disconnected wires from lightbulb fixture. Sliped control bracket out after disengaging two hooks. Yours may have two screws. Removed lightbulb holder from Control bracket. Installed new bracket by reversing the above procedure being careful to replace control board wireing according to the photos I had taken, and/or Colorcode printed on control board. Snapped bezel back in place. Reconnected door harness. Works as designed.

Control Bracket broke, and Ice dispenser switch was hanging loose
1. Remove the cover panel by prying it loose at two screwdriver slots at the bottom. 2. Disconnect the panel by disconnecting a white plug. 3. Remove the ice dispenser and water dispenser switches from the control bracket, they just pop out. 4. Remove the light socket. 5. The wire bundle is taped to the Control bracket, I just reus ed the strapping tape that was there. 6. the control bracket just pops out, there are 2 clips that hold it in place, one on each side, right and left. Reassemble in reverse order, it all just pops together.

Ice dispenser not working, switch bracket broken.
Watched repair video on You Tube. Fairly simple process, just remove old bracket and install new one. Unplug the wires, remove switches, and bulb socket, replace them in new bracket, re-plug in the color coded wires, and install the bracket, replace the cover, etc. I just Googled, "Whirlpool ice dispenser not working", and a couple of v ideos came up. Hardest part was keeping people out of the refrigerator, while I was trying to work on it.

Water dispenser inoperative
2 hands on the bottom dispenser tray push Down and pull to yourself. After dispenser tray is removed use a thin metal scraper, or pocket knife (being careful to not scratch any visible parts) slide under the bottom of the dispenser housing and pry it away from the door as it just snaps into place at bottom. Don't let the wires scare you i t's only 2 micro switches, 1light bulb, and one control board mounted to the dispenser housing fascia. Unplug the control board on dispenser housing and lay aside. Slide micro switches and spacers off of old bracket. Disconnect light bulb terminals from rear of light mount (don't worry only one way they will reconnect due to terminal size). Grab bottom of switch bracket and pull towards yourself and it should snap disconnect. Swap over the light bulb mount to the new bracket. Now clean the junk build up behind the dispenser housing and the door from your clumsy kids and reassemble the same way removed.
