Screw drivers
power switch for the router failed
1. make sure it is unplugged before opening!
2. unscrew four Philips screws securing the cover (on the opposite end from the bit end of the router)
3. slide the power switch straight up out of its place
4. wiggle and pull the connectors off the switch (this might be the toughest part, because at first they don't give, and y ou might be tempted to think they're soldered in place, but no, they're just pressed on there really tight.)
5. press those same connectors onto the new switch, in the same orientation, seating them all the way down.
6. slide the switch back into its place and replace the cover before verifying operation.

(if you're unsure the switch is the problem and you haven't bought a replacement yet, you can do steps 1 and 2, then, being absolutely sure there are no bits attached and the chuck is retracted safely, and you have insulated yourself very well, plug in the router, short out the switch by making contact to both connectors and nothing else. If you are unsure what well insulated means, don't attempt this. What I did, and did at my own risk, was to make the shorting connection with a plastic handled screwdriver held with a dry leather glove, wearing rubber shoes standing on an insulating floor mat, not holding any part of the router, nor making contact with any metal objects around me that could potentially be grounded. If the router jumps into action (with a brief arc as the connection is made/broken), then the switch is the only thing that needs to be replaced. If not, then it does not necessarily mean the switch is fine, but it does mean that there is at least one more problem with the router.)
