Product Description

This part is the replacement thermal fuse for your dryer. It measures a little more than an inch wide, and about ¾ inch long. The thermal fuse is a safety device that shuts off the burner in a gas dryer, or the motor in an electric dryer when the dryer overheats. If your dryer will not start, or if it is not producing any heat, you may need to replace the thermal fuse. Be sure to disconnect power to the dryer before you begin this repair. This part is sold individually and is an authentic OEM part sourced from the manufacturer.

Dryer would not start.
It had power, because the timer was clicking but if you pushed the button, it wouldn't do anything. Unplug the dryer. Slide the dryer out away from the wall. Raise the top of the dryer, and lean back against the wall. Remove the one screw that holds the heater coils in place. This screw also holds the thermal fuse in place. Using the red wires, pull the thermal fuse holder out of the dryer. Remove the wires from the thermal fuse and replace with the new fuse. Reassemble in reverse order. Make sure to clean your lint out of the exhaust pipe. The fuse blows if the pipe gets clogged.

Dryer would not start
First installed door catch and timer resistor assemblies but dryer still would not start. Thermal fuse a bit hard to get to due to tight space, but removing heat coil screw helped. Reconnected two white wires to new fuse and reinstalled heat coil. Closed lid, plugged in cord and dryer started right away! Such a relief! Saved about $150!

Dryer would not start
I poped the top of the dryer with a flat head screwdriver, used the nutdriver to take out the heating element and the thermal fuses. I checked with Ohm meter and found thermal fuse open. Since the dryer was over 5 years old I decided to replace the heating element kit also. The one connector was real tight, so I used a small pen knife to losen the connection, replaced all connectors in order that they were, re-installed fuse and element (had a tough time keeping the fuse in the correct spot until I colud put the element screw back in, had to hold fuse in place with one hand while starting screw with other), got everything back together put top back on and ran dryer for 10 minutes. Works good as new.
