old timer stopped advancing. the dryer kept on drying. didn't stop on it's own.
I watched two videos on you tube, and the replacement looked like it would be pretty simple. It was. All I had to do was remove the back of the control panel, remove 2 screws that held the timer, and disconnect 5 wires. Reversed the procedure and done in about 20 minutes.

The timer did not work for quite some time
I removed the cover in the back, took pictures with my phone to make sure I know where all the connections go and removed the old timer replaced it with new one and it works! It was surprisingly easy!

dryer wouldn't start
First I changed the fuse - no luck, then the start button, no luck. I watched a video about the timer and pulled it out while still attached and noticed it rattled a little. In the video his rattled and needed to be replaced so I was hopeful. I took off each wire and put it into the new timer one by one. There are quite a few. Put it back together and voila! So glad to have a dryer again. It is an expensive part but still cheaper than a repair guy or a new dryer.

Dryer would not stay running
I replaced the timer dial. I am not a particularly handy guy but was able to view a youtube video from this site about replacing this dial. Made it seem easy enough. So I went for it. That video was for a different model dryer than mine and used a different part. However, the concept was the same: 1) unplug dryer and remove the back panel. Then remove the dials. 2) disconnect the existing timer dial and replace the wires one at a time onto the new timer dial. 3) screw in and then screw back in the panel. Overall it took me about 45 minutes including hunting for a tool I didn't have and cleaning up all the lint. I'm very much glad I didn't buy a new dryer or anything like that. Cost was about 1/4 of buying a new dryer of comparable quality. Tools required: wrench set with 1/4 inch wrench, and a phillips head screwdriver. I could have used something to have a wrench extender or a screwdriver type of extender, that would have helped.
