my dryer started making noise, rough metal on metal sound and clothes took a couple cycles to dry.
Looked in the back of the dryer and rear drum felt was already falling apart so I ripped it out. We actually ran it a couple times without the felt ( do not do this!) Wound up grinding off some metal. My advice is look up a video on whatever repair your doing. Once I removed the drum my felt seal unlike most videos I watched attached to t he back of my dryer and not to the drum itself. Scrape off old adhesive and apply new adhesive which will be recommended if your purchasing felt.my felt seal once its glued on it folds over itself. Slide drum over felt reattach your belt and even with my grinded out metal it ran like new.This site made my repair easy with timely delivery and helpful videos. Hope this helps someone.

Dryer leaving rust streaks on white laundry
The video was exactly right for installing the upper drum glide. Getting the front off of the machine took less than 5 minutes. The old glide and felt peeled off easily. I used a putty knife and a file rasp to remove the old glue. Used denatured alcohol to wipe away any residual dust and pieces of glue. Applied the glue in two parallel li nes where the new glides and pad install. Waited about a minute for the glue to get tacky, then placed new part on the upper door opening. To hold it down, I used an adjustable 1.5 inch wide nylon tie down strap around the entire circumference of the door opening and ratcheted it down tight for overnight. Next morning took off the strap and repair was tight. If you are going to replace the upper glide, go ahead and do the lower seal as well. If the upper is worn out, the lower will be worn out of shape and won't seal right with a new one only on the top. Repair time 30 minutes from open to close, with 12 hours glue drying time in between.
