The motor died on my 38 year old Maytag dryer.
Because of the New Year's Holiday, it took 6 days to get the 2-3 business day ordered parts. I disassembled the dryer and cleaned it as I went. During disassembly, the blower wheel fell apart when the retaining clamp was removed. When the drum was out, I had good access to the motor which did not move when I tried to turn the shaft. I then ordered the parts and waited for 6 days. The new motor electrical connections were different from the original motor but the proper crimp terminals were provided with the motor and the connection instructions were clear. Assembling the belt required an internet search to determine the correct side of the belt to the drum. The instructions said smooth side to the drum, but the belt had a rubbery grooved side and a flat brought side. I confirmed from an internet search that the "smooth" side in the instructions meant the rough side of the belt. If you do this job make sure that you have a crimper for the wire terminals and a ring clip pliers for the two ring clips that hold the blower wheel in place.

The old motor was gummed up and full of lint, bearings were shot.
The motor can be accessed by removing the front panel of the dryer, then the front drum supports - you need a tiny wrench for the screws, as the ones on this dryer aren't slotted for a screwdriver. The straps holding the motor down can be removed with strong downward pressure and something to pry away the arms when they're clear of the ta bs that hold them in place. Save these straps as the new motor doesn't include them!

Replacing the motor itself is straightforward. Look online for wiring instructions if the model doesn't match exactly (they redesigned the wiring for more recent models).

I needed a blowtorch to remove the pulley wheel from the old motor - the set screw was very stubborn. Use a bit of loctite on the screw when reinstalling.

Connections were different than the original.
I pulled the dryer motor, and installed the new one. However, it was unclear how to make the new connections, and even the repairman struggled with them. I apparently had them all right, except, he said that one connection should have been one terminal over. He got it going, but he said that even he had to adjust his bifocals to see wh ere the error was. A clearer picture would have helped. It cost me an extra $90, but I am happy. He said that otherwise, I did a very good job.

dryer shut off. restarted and motor shut off again after about 10 seconds. smelled burning. .
used u tube video to show me how to do the job. this slowed me down but the video showed the exact model of the dryer and how to take it apart and put back together. was easy. the problem was easy to figure out because the motor was actually smoking and was hard to turn the shaft. the drum rollers and the idlier wheel were turning ok. not hing left to cause the problem. proof was when it went back together it ran smooth and quite the way it was supposed to.

Extremely loud noise during operation
All necessary info. was on this web site including part numbers and installation. Only problem was that my dishwasher was so old the replacement motor was obselete and I found this out out when I was sent a dryer motor instead of a dishwasher motor. Somehow the part numbers were mixed.I sure hope I can receive a refund for this. I have s hipped this back for refund but haven't heard anything. Still, this web site was outstanding with helping mewith this issue. Thank You
