Product Description

This kit includes two door strikes, and three door catches, to service doors that have one or two catches. The strike is mounted on the body of the dryer, while the catch is mounted on the dryer door. These two parts work together to keep the dryer door shut while in operation. If your appliances lid will not close, or it will not start, it may be time to replace the door catch. If this part is malfunctioning, it should be replaced immediately, as it is not safe to run a dryer with the door not properly closed. This kit also comes with a set of instructions to help with the repair.

Dryer would run, but not heat
Needed it running quick, so no diagnostics. Ordered one of everything that could fix problem (plus a new door catch). Tipped it onto it's back & popped the bottom cover off. Element, thermal cutoff, thermistor, and fuse. were right in front and held by 2 screws each (don't drop them, don't ask). A little bit tight inside, but no big issu e. vacuumed the inside, replaced everything (it was the Heating Element, by the way), slapped the cover on, and put it back in its spot. works like it was new. Yes, I unplugged it first. Remember! Safety Third!

After watching the instructional video, I removed the male portion of the door catch with pliers and replaced them with the new parts. It only took a few minutes. I didn't need to replace the female side and the door is closing fine!! Much cheaper and faster than calling the repair person we used last time!

The door latch was broken and needed to be replaced.
My husband removed the door, found the old latch and removed it with tweezers. He used the instructions in the package to figure out which latch to use. He put in the new latch and the door was fixed. I believe he watched a video showing how to do the repair, which helped.

The female side of the door catch was severely damaged
The catch was so damaged that I could remove it with a pair of needle nosed pliers, by grabbing the catch with the pliers and inserting the screw drivers on the sides of the catch to let the snaps that held the catch in place slide past the side of the hole in the door (I was hoping this would work as I didn't want to remove all of the sc rews that held the outside and inside parts of the doors together). Something like nail files might be needed instead of screw drivers as screw drivers may be too thick. The new catch then just popped into the vacated hole. The male side of the catch was okay, but I replaced it anyway as it simply required removing one screw. The new male side of the catch was provided by you as well as a new screw.

Nylon part of catch broken
I replaced only the door catch, not the strike, because the strike was the same size as the two included in the kit, so no need to replace. I used #20 yellow catch, but the other two in the kit would also work. The online video instructions were excellent.
