The timer knob broke off. I have the knob(I'll still get a new one), but I need the part it fits on to. How do I find that part number? Does it require the entire timer switch? Thanks

Replace Timer (Old one would not work with knob - Timer Shaft Stripped)
Remove the dryer cord or shut off breaker, then take off all of the knobs from the appliance front, remove the six screws from the back, lift up keeper in lower right corner and twist out of place, move wires from old to the new timer, push thru hole in appliance front and twist into place. Replace the six screws, knobs, turn breaker bac k on or put cord back into place, test timer operation, and I was done in 15-20 minutes.

Easy job, but take your time and work carefully. Twist the old timer off keeping the wire connections. Twist on the new timer and transfer the wires one at a time. Wires are on tight so you might need pliers.

gas dryer wouldn't stay on for the required time
First unplug power cord. I removed three Philips screws at top rear of control panel and tilted it forward. Then facing front of machine slide panel to the right to free bottom tabs. Twist out timer switch counter clockwise by releasing the locking tab.Install new timer switch by rotating it clockwise. Then careful remove wires one at a time from old timer to new installed timer. I used a small screw driver to pry up wire connectors. Its much easier to swap wires one at a time so as not to get confused about location positioning. Then with all wires firmly in place place control panel bottom back into slots tilt in place reinstall three screws, plug power cord back in.JOB DONE

Knob kept breaking, used pliers to turn timer and it got to hard to turn with knobs.
I'm probably average to slightly below average on the handyman scale so trying to switch out an electrical part on an appliance was a definite don't mess with, but reading a few other post convinced me to give it a try. It was as easy as everyone says, few screws in the back to get to the timer, unplugged the wires 1 at a time and plugged them into the new one so I wouldn't get mixed up. Screwed the back back on and dryer is like new. Thanks ! Matt
