the original pulley was making loud screeching noise. Lubricating it with wd40 would only lessen it, not eliminate it.
I took the lower front cover, filter, and the filter housing off after unplugging the dryer from the wall socket. Then I reached into the dryer and released the belt by pushing against the spring tension. The old pulley came off the shaft and the new one slipped into place with no effort. I then re-routed the belt in the proper direction

Drum sounded like a cat was thrown in with the cloths.
Having repaired it before, I knew what it needed. ordered all new rollers and because of age a new drive belt. Needed a new door switch, had bypassed it a while ago. finding the parts on the site was a snap, great setup. FIRST, DISCONNECT THE PO

WER!!! VERY EASY FIX. Lean the unit against the wall at about 30-40 degrees and start removing the screws from the bottom and lift each panel off by pivoting. Take care when removing door frame, unplug the wires. Remove drive belt before removing the drum. Check roller shafts for excessive wear or just replace them with the rollers. make sure you put the spacer back behind the rollers and the rollers facing the right way. Use caution with the felt drum sealers when replacing the drum and the door frame. CLEAN OUT THE LINT BUILDUP WHILE YOU HAVE IT APART. VAC THE MOTOR CLEAN TO PREVENT OVERHEATING.

So glad for this site repair info, videos and reasonable prices saved me at least $100 or more. This repair cost me less than $14. I removed bottom front panel screws. - Then removed middle section door panel and lint filter assembly that swings away from the bottom and hangs by the two hooks under the top lip. oint. Remove two screws which held the front of the top. Lid is hinged on the back. Opened it up leaning on the wall. Remove 4 screws holding the bulk head. Lift front of bulk head and drum together to release from slots and removed them. See the videos. HELPFUL HINTS - Clean carefully everything you can get to while it's open (Temp Sensor). This may sound crazy but - set up snap ring pliers to COMPRESS rings for removing and installing the snap ring because the spring spreading the pliers will hold the snap ring under slight pressure while you replace the idler bearing. I cleaned all the roller bearing shafts with a very light hair clipper oil wiped clean with paper towel and lubricated the shafts with SILICONE GREASE used on rubber O-rings in water filtration systems. I happened to have some for our pool pump. Tiny gray cup from home depot made by Danco, Inc. MSDS said was stable to 400 degrees non-flammable. Dryer runs like new. Also upgraded to 4" rigid duct. Good luck with yours

Fast and easy
I am not a handyman and could repaired my gas dryer in one hour. The idler pulley was the original part that my machine needed. Now, it is working like a new dryer. Thanks.

Good part
Very fast shipping of this idler, and even though it is not exactly the same as the original, it works fine. The original had a narrower channel within the surface of the roller, which I assume holds the belt in the center. The new idler is flat all the way accross, but works fine. Happy with purchase, and will use Fix.com in the future.
