Heating Element (Orange Dot)

First I watched the video on line and saw how the tech did the repair. When I went into my dryer I soon found that it was not the same to take the front door off my dryer as it was when the tech did it in the video. This will expose the motor assembly and the bottom of the lint Duct assembly. Then there are two nuts that hold the door on at the bottom of the door. once those were removed i simply lifted the door off and the rest of the installation went the way the video went. The only think I wish there would have been is a video for my model that showed how that heating element went in. i had the whole back of the drum mount detached and I really didn't have to do that at all. I could have simply unscrewed the element and put the parts in I needed to and I would have been done. Anyway Im glad it worked out the way it did. I got to clean out the all the lint and it looked like a new dryer when I was finished.

This model dryer does not disassemble as shown in the video. Remove the bottom front plate (2 bolts). Then remove two bolts at the bottom of the door and pull down. You may need to disengage the clips at the top with a putty knife. Remove two bolts holding clips that secure the top to raise it. However, for this repair, it was only necess ... Read more ary to remove the bottom plate (unless you have short arms). The drum does not need to come out. Two accessible bolts secure the heating element to the back. It will slide down from behind the drum. The Thermal Fuse and Limit Thermostat are mounted to it. Remember to unplug the dryer first!

Thanks so much one of the easiest repairs ever. Took off lower panel (2 screws) took off shroud (3 screws) Took off heating element (2 screws) transfer wires to new element. Put it all bak together. Piece of cake!

After unplugging unit, raise lid and secure so as not to fall. Note...There are two clips holding lid in place under front of lid. With a thin blade screwdriver,gently insert under lid and the clips can be seen. push to release. Unplug gray, green and yellow wires, after marking replacement,on inside top of door panel, remove screws and remove panel. Bit of a problem but reach under tumbler to your right, and push tension pulley to your right to take tension off belt and remove belt from pulley and motor. While slightly lifting and supporting, remove drum leaving belt hanging in place. Now, after placing a pad down for you knees,lean in to lower left and the element assembly is behind a panel held by two more hex screws. You will recognize it from new one.The entire assy. will slide down then lift out. Only then did I remove wires and two heat sensors?? and placed on new unit as I removed them from the old one. This is where the needle nose pliers came into play as I found the shovel connectors on the wires had become loose. And you're done! Reassemble in reverse. Tip...Check rear rollers and pads for tumbler while it's convenient. The pads are on the door assembly and are about 2 inches long, look like leather and clip in to metal rests. Also after replacing belt on motor and tensioner, gently rotate drum by hand to insure belt is seated properly on pulley. Not a hard job, good luck.

After replacing the heating element and high limit fuse, I pulled the front cover to examine the felt cylinder seal. At this point I saw that a dryer sheet had entered the squirrel cage blower and completely conformed to the inner shape of the fan like a Melitta coffee filter. It had a half inch cylinder of lint packed into it like coffee ... Read more grounds! Guess I didn't need those parts, but already installed so what the heck. Also made about $0.75 in loose change and three gameboy games that had been lost for a while.Best part of the job was vacuuming out all the lint before a fire started.

Removed the machine from power and dryer vent hose and laid it on it's back.Removed panel under door (two hex head screws),located heater element on back panel,removed the two hex head screws,pulled element toward the floor of the machine and brought it up on top of the door,removed the two sensors and transferred them to the new element. ... Read more Replaced the assembly back into the machine with the screws.While having the cabinet open I vacuumed all the lint out of the cabinet before reinstalling the bottom cover,stood it up,plugged it in to test.Everything worked fine.

Repair required removal of the front lower access panel. Then r&r of the heating element panel located in the inside rear of the dryer. It required me to swap out the 2 limit switches on that panel. Within a half hour I had it back together and operating back to normal.

I googled problems with dryer working but not heating. It recommend first try vents being clogged, then fuse, then element. I unclogged, fuse was fine, checked the element had a break in coil. I took pictures before so I knew where wires went. Belt was the hardest to get back on but once you get that it was easy. Also I used a screw driver took forever. Got out a power drill and was way faster. Only problem now is i need a boost fan. Too long of tubing to outside vent. i
