Fan switch stopped workig
First turned off power to range top. Removed the surface top and under pan. Removed the glass holder with three screws. Took off knobs for the burners and fan switch. Removed glass plate. Removed control panel with two small screws. Removed the old fan switch using adjustable wrench to remove the nut. Dissconected the wires from old unit . One gray and three blue, two bundled together. Reconnected them to new switch. Grey to single tab and blue to two paired tabs. Attached new switch to control plate reusing the old nut. Had to use some pipe tape as old nut was slightly larger than new bolt. Turned on power to check repair. Turned off power and reassembled all the parts cleaning them as well. Turned on power and was good to go, total repair time took around 30 minutes.

Fan did not turn on, switch worn out
Clipped wires off old switch. Attached new wire clips to wires and attached to terminals on new switch. Turned off power first, of course. Works great. Paid for a service call who said couldn't be fixed. Should have found your site first!

Switch stem was broken off.
As stated, this was an easy fix. The part looks different because of the wire configuration but it's an easy swap-out. I disassemble my top frequently for cleaning so this was simple. Turn off the main power supply. Remove the center grill. Lift out the burners on the switch side. Lift out the drip pan. Remove the three Phillips screws ho lding in the L-shaped strip next to the control panel. Pull off the burner control knobs and lift the control panel. I used an adjustable wrench to loosen the nut that holds the old switch in place. Unplug the single gray wire from the old switch - it gets attached to the single terminal on the replacement switch. Unplug the other wires from the old switch - they will come off as a bundle - and plug them onto the dual connector. Done with the electrical part! Slip the new switch thru the control panel aligning the little protrusion with the guide hole in the panel. My switch also came without a nut but I scavenged one from a coax cable jack and it worked perfectly. Tighten but do not over-tighten. I double-nutted mine. Reassemble unit. Here's a hot tip: I figured the stem broke off because it stuck up too high and someone probably bumped it with a pan. I sanded off about a quarter inch of the new stem so the knob was just slightly above the control panel. I believe it will be much harder to break it off. Entire project was only a half hour.
