Thermocouple 13"

This is a genuine OEM replacement part that has been sourced directly from the manufacturer. This thermocouple is 13 inches long, and it is 3/16 of an inch in diameter. It is made of copper with brass fittings. It is commonly used in propane construction heaters. A thermocouple helps prevent the release of unburned propane, it is a safety mechanism. The thermocouple is the go between for the pilot light, and the thermoelectric valve. The thermocouple senses the heat from the pilot light, as the heat travels down the thermocouple voltage is produced. The thermoelectric valve at the other end sense the voltage and keeps the pilot light on. If the voltage stops flowing it tells the valve the pilot is out and the gas flow is halted. Due to constant exposure to heat the thermocouple will become less effective over time and need to be replaced. This thermocouple is sold individually.
