Hello Ronald, Thank you for the question. This could be an indication the Thermoelectric Valve is defective and may need to be replaced. The thermoelectric valve is a flame supervision device; these devices are needed on all gas-powered appliances. It is a safety feature, when the flame is extinguished this valve shuts off the gas from travelling to the burner, which prevents a buildup of gas inside the heater. This valve helps ensure that that gas supply in your heater stays at safe levels. We hope this helps!
