Junior Technical Support Specialist

Fix.com is a division of Eldis Group Partnership (EGP), an ecommerce company with offices in the USA and Canada. We help do-it-yourselfers (DIY) fix their home appliances, outdoor power tools and lawn equipment. EGP operates a family of DIY web sites and have been online since 1999. We provide consumers with the parts and know-how to fix their household products themselves, offering the internet’s largest collection of step-by-step installation instructions and videos. EGP is committed to helping consumers repair rather than replace their household products.

We are currently seeking a Junior Technical Support Specialist to join our support team to assist users on-site and in remote offices with application, troubleshooting windows or other system problems, installing software, and maintaining printers.

The primary role will be supporting users in their daily tasks to ensure that a reliable and robust IT platform is available to all. A high customer service focus is critical in the role, and a strong technical skill set is a must.

Main Responsibilities
  • Server and desktop support duties for our internal team and remote users for the day-to-day operations for employees (PC support, server maintenance and troubleshooting).
  • After hours support (on-call rotation) and maintenance requests, pro-active response for outages.
Education/Experience
  • Technology Diploma, Degree or relevant experience (minimum 1-2 years)
  • Experience with supporting end-users in a desktop support role
Required Qualifcations
  • Windows 7&10 desktop support, laptops, desktops, printers, other hardware
  • Office 365 (Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, Office 2016)
  • Windows networking, DNS, DHCP, cabling (installing/terminating)
  • Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable access to a vehicle.
  • Be able to work in Canada legally
Qualifications considered an asset
  • Advanced networking, VLANs, redundant networking, firewalls, routing
  • Windows Server (2003-2016) Administration
  • Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS) experience
  • Mac desktop experience
  • Microsoft SQL support experience
  • Documentation/Library creation
  • Experience with load balancing, IIS and other web technologies

This is a full-time, in-person position (not telecommuting) working out of our Truro office location. Please note the hours of this position will be between 4pm and midnight, after the initial onboarding process is complete.
