Database Administrator

Fix.com is looking for a Database Administrator to work on one of the largest ecommerce websites in Canada

The Database Administrator will design, build, and maintain databases that collect and transform the data that power our ecommerce web sites. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and able to identify opportunities to continuously improve our systems and processes for data import and management. The Database Administrator will work with the development team to develop our internal systems, to transform data, and to support ecommerce operations.

Duties:
  • Help design and build our data management system, which imports data from multiple sources and transforms it into a master catalog
  • Conduct periodic data imports from various sources, including cleansing and normalizing the data
  • Manage and report on data import projects and their progress
  • Develop on-site, cloud, and hybrid cloud systems for managing large data sets
  • Assist the application development team and database development teams in developing new features and functionality for the ecommerce websites
  • Take part in peer code review with other Database Administrators
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a DBA in a similar environment
  • 1-3 years’ experience writing SQL for relational databases
  • Diploma or degree in Information technology, computer science or equivalent
  • Must be able to work in Canada
Would be Considered an Asset:
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Integration Services
  • Experience working with .NET and/or PowerShell Scripting
  • Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) processes
  • Azure or cloud database technologies

This is a full time, in-person position (not telecommuting) in our Dartmouth office. Standardized testing may be conducted as part of our screening process.
