The purpose of the switch is to turn the device on/off, as well as playing a role in electric breaking by momentarily reversing electrical polarity. Due to the mechanical internals of switches, they tend to degrade and wear out over time, making them a commonly replaced part in power tools. Common symptoms of a broken switch include: the tool completely stops functioning, will not turn on, and turning off intermittently during use. The dimensions of this switch are approximately 3.5"x2.25". Switches are sold individually.

3. Orientation of lugs on new switch are different, so some bending is required to get switch back into housing.

Connect wires to new switch replaced retaining bolts

Checked the four connector blades with a continuity tester to confirm the right connection before swapping as the positions are slightly different on the back of the new switch.
